low set basket, 4 prongs, thin band, white gold (but not rhodium plated).  I prefer for the ring to be as simple and non-fussy as possible.

however, whatever setting you choose, make sure it works with the type of wedding band you want!

4 prong, platinum 1.1CT RB with a thin band. pave on the band with a very very thin channel set wall to keep everything in place as I bang it around 🙂

@TGold:  I laughed when I saw your “classic but unique” as it is the exact direction I gave!

@offbeatbride314:  wow totally cannot tell its a J and I have an F! The flourescence must help! Are you sure its not ideal or hearts and arrows cut? because mine is excellent cut and doesnt have a perfect pattern like yours, though it is much much smaller! anyway, it’s really beautiful!!

@wkbee:  Great minds 🙂  I was particularly impressed because I barely gave Fiance any direction and he picked it out all on his own!

@HomeschoolingBeeof4:  Your set is so beautiful!!  LOVE rose gold!  I plan on having a wedding band stack that includes a rose gold ring.

I have a knife edge setting that comes up in a cathedral on the sides.  4 prongs because it’s a princess, but they are v prongs instead of the little balls.  My setting is 18kt white gold, not rhodium plated (so it looks matte) but I may get it plated to make it shinier.  My Fiance picked out my ring.  The nice thing about it is my wedding band will sit flush.

I have a round solitaire. The six prongs were really important to me, it helps keep it’s shape. The thin band is more flattering on most fingers and I voted for platinum only because I’m allergic to gold.

I think solitaires are so classic and beautiful! Yay for all these beauties! I have a 1.5 princess diamond in a 2.5mm white gold knife edge band. Mine sits high, I believe it’s called tiffany style setting, and I love it. I do have to rhodium plate my white gold every year because it starts to yellow so, maybe a change to platinum is in the future.

Here’s my profile shot without wedding bands:
