I tried on some ridiculously overpriced ones at mall stores. I believe the one I liked most was a 3/4 ct princess cut in a halo (1 ctw) that was priced at over $8k! Ended up going completely custom route after I discovered these boards and realized it was a thing. Saved a ton of money and ended up with my dream ring.

Definitely update us when he proposes! Would love to see your ring ๐Ÿ™‚

courtney487 :  That ring is gorgeous!

I definitely was a little lost on what I wanted. I went ring shopping alone (but my now husband recommended I look at rings so it was agreed upon). I knew I wanted a gemstone and I liked emerald, pears and oval cuts. I tried on diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, etc. to see what stone and color I liked. I was surprised I really liked sapphires. I honestly thought I would go for an emerald.

I’m glad I tried on a lot of rings bc I narrowed down what I wanted.

A lot of people say that they will try rings on and end up with a totally different style in mind, so shopping around won’t hurt!

Good luck on your search and let us know when he pops the question ๐Ÿ˜€

courtney487 :  How exciting!! Keep us posted. Before my proposal, I tried no rings on but did look at loose diamonds, told my fiancé I loved asscher and to decide on the design himself and he did a great job!

We went to 2 places in a jewelry mart, and then BrilliantEarth. I only took pictures at BrilliantEarth, so I’ll post them here!

Catalina (My favorite!!)

Vienna (I think)

The only one I really liked was the Catalina, so I ended up going the custom route to put together some aspects of different rings! No pics to show yet, it’s currently being made ๐Ÿ™‚

lynnnie :  I’ve been looking at the Catalina for a couple weeks now. Thank you SO MUCH for posting photos of it, the band doesn’t look as fat as I thought, and I love the cathedral.

I made sure to try on every diamond shape with my SO present, in addition to different settings, as he and I wanted to create the ring together. He wanted my input and, in turn, asked me to join him but I wanted his input as I wanted a ring that he would have picked out for me. Each party provided their input per visit to the jewellers. ๐Ÿ˜„

Mirroring the PPs, I cannot wait to see your ring OP!
