I’ve gotten a few:

“You’re getting your dress custom made? That must be super expensive.”— No, it’s actually not. It’s the same price I had budgeted. And besides, who cares and since when is it anyone’s business what you’re paying for anything.

After telling Future Mother-In-Law about a fancy, famous restaurant we were considering as a venue, “You aren’t New York royalty…”– Umm, first off, my family is paying for the wedding. You haven’t offered us anything, so you have no say. Secondly, why would you say that? It was a cool place, but isn’t in the running any more for a number of reasons.

We saw my FI’s family for the first time in person since we got engaged this past weekend and my Future Mother-In-Law never asked to see the ring until hours after we got there. Not sure if it was rude per se, but it was weird.

My mom at one point said to me, “Well, that’s not what I want for my wedding”! I called her out on they one. It was pretty funny actually because I know my mom meant nothing by it than a freudian slip.

My aunt gave me a sort of back handed compliment when she saw my ring in person for the first time. She said “Wow that looks so much better in person! When I saw it on Facebook it looked like a big ugly blob!” This comment was made after she previously commented on that picture of my ring on Facebook where she said “Wow so beautiful!” I just thought to myself, yeah okay b*tch. Lol

Also, my future SIL now thinks that since me and my Fiance are engaged, we can babysit her two children 1-3 nights a week, because her and her husband need a date night. I don’t mind helping out every once in a while, but not that often!

This happened today:

Dad: You gonna get married or what?

Me: We are looking at June next year.

Dad: You should elope

Me: Thats no fun. I want to have a party.

Dad: I dont give a shit about those people.

Father of the year award! He doesnt get a vote because he isn’t paying for a damn thing. Plus, he walked out on my mother after 20 years of marriage…20 years and countless affairs!

I dont even care if he comes at this point. My mothers boyfriend who I have known for 13 years is more of a father!
