diamonds, sapphires, rubies, emeralds = precious

diamonds, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, amethysts = historically precious

As we exhaust our mines, we may add to the precious list.

    Bling!

MrsKDW:  oooh – love that red pyrope! I want one like that someday 🙂 I have an Almondine but the red is so dark it nearly looks black unless the light is shining directly on it. I want one where you can really see the red in all lighting.

MarriedToMyPillow:  For semi-precious gemstones, a London Blue Topaz. Definitely. I love that stone so, so much.

I have a semiprecious gemstone engagement ring. It’s an Australian black opal. Mine is a mix of blues and green, but they come in other colors as well. Amethyst or blue topaz would be my next choice.

I would go with a faceted Labradorite, Sunstone or Moonstone. I love the shimmer in feldspars.
