Whatever you get, you have to post tons and tons of pictures. I’m so in love with those BTD rubies, it isn’t even funny. And I don’t even like rubies most of the time.

@Missus_LLC:  I love that picture of the ruby halo you posted. That would be the setting I would choose for a Ruby.

I definitely think a three-stone of some sort (especially tapered baguettes like you posted) in yellow gold. Yellow gold is traditionally used for rubies because the yellow can mitigate the common pinkish undertones and make the ruby appear redder.

I also like three-stones with half moons, which is what I have for my e-ring, but not everyone likes half moons.

To me Rubies are so romantic and traditional. If I was lucky to have a great big one, I would have it set in an antique halo setting or a filigree setting in yellow or white gold. I think the warmth of yellow gold with the ruby is just magic! Either way, what ever you choose your a very lucky lady to have ruby! Love gemstone E rings!

I too would put it in yellow gold… in an ornate setting with smaller diamond accents. Either round or cushion could both look gorgeous.

I love the cushion as well. I would go for thin, yellow gold (I normally prefer silver metals, but I love gold with a ruby)band with diamonds and a double claw prong.

Ooh, my e-ring is a ruby too! Mine’s a marquise with a diamond halo in yellow gold.

I love love cushion cuts and agree with the PP who said to leave it a solitaire. I love my ring but a few of my halo diamonds have already come loose so I sometimes yearn for a solitaire just so I don’t have to deal with the worry. I would set it in yellow gold as well. Please share your end result! Rubies are so beautiful 🙂

YES for yellow gold with ruby. I bought my dream RHR and it is an emerald cut synthetic ruby in a diamond and yellow gold halo. I adore this ring. The yellow and red look so regal and lush together, and I really think it would have lost something magical if I went for a white metal. Here it is:
