I wanted a square or rectangle but not a princess. I just like the the look of angular shapes better on my hand. And all of my other rings are already round or oval so I wanted something different too.   Originally we both liked cushion cuts and were sure thats what we wanted, but then we came across radiants and started looking at those too.  The more we learned about diamonds the more I knew I wanted something a little outside of the box. Originally I wanted a colorless Cushion cut and I ended up with a L-faint brown radiant cut diamond.  I love the fire, pinfire sparkle and pastel colors it throws.

I have a round brilliant because that’s what he picked out. I love emerald cut diamonds, so if I have picked out the ring, that’s what I would have gone for.

I have a trillion cut diamond, because I jokingly sent Fiance a photo of it saying it looked like a car part. When we went to the jewellers and saw it up close in person, we both loved the uniqueness of the shape.

jellybellie:  practically ring twins, except my finger is bigger! Lol

On topic, I wanted and got an oval. I wanted something different from classic round, but nothing too trendy. I wanted a style that would last for the rest of my life. I Ann in love with my halo, and the great thing about ovals is they gave up bigger than most cuts. Joy!

From internet research, I had my heart set on an asscher halo. When my fiancé and I actually went ring shopping, I fell in love with a round sparkly halo!!! It had a high setting that reminded me of royalty!!! We went back to look at the ring twice…the rest is history!!!♡♡♡

My husband liked round so that’s what I got. I didn’t really have a preference and I wanted him to like what he was spending his money on So I let him pick it out. I’m pretty easy to please.

I think I mostly wanted an oval shape. I like that it looks bigger a d all the rings I saw in pinterest were gorgeous! The only other shape I considered was round. My Fiance got me an oval, and I’m in love!

futuredoctorbee:  I really wanted an oval or round, leaning more towards an oval. The jeweler we worked with told us that with ovals, you have to bump up the specs since it’s such an large-faced shape.

So we decided that I’d rather have a larger carat round, and my fiance liked the way the round looked better!

I wanted (and have) a radiant cut.  I never liked rounds…too common.  I loved the Tiffany Lucida cut set, which is a radiant.  I have a 0.8 D VVS1 radiant…it has perfect crushed iced faceting which I love.  It throws light beautifully and is so insanely sparkely.

We inherited a really nice pear cut diamond that had amazing specs and a good size from my grandmother. Before she passed she told my now Fiance to take it and use it when he proposed.  He let me know that he had it and knowing the shape I started looking for settings that I liked.

Pear was not my first choice I think I would have gotten an emerald is we were not given the stone.  However now that I have it I love it and don’t think I would ever want a different cut.

Mine is round. I like the shape because it’s classic, timeless, and is known to have the best light performance. Round is what every woman in my family on both sides has worn for generations, so there is a connection there as well. I love emerald solitaires, too.

I wanted a RB and Fiance liked them too. They’re just classic and timeless to us and that’s what we wanted for the ering. I’m excited to play with fancy cut diamonds or other gems in the future though for RHRs or earrings/pendants 😀

I was first looking for a princess cut diamond but didn’t really LOVE it when I tried it on in stores. Fortunately my in-laws had a round cut diamond waiting to gift it to their eldest son’s fiance (ME!!). later in the years I finally figured out my true love is the emerald cut and we found a beautiful EC diamond last year! So I believe I now have the best of both world…fire and brilliance of the round and classic, clean-lined, art deco-y of the EC.

If I should ever want to try out another shape, I think I’d love to own an antique-cut cushion diamond, the kind with big faceting.

I wanted something classic. I feel my brilliant round solitaire is timeless!
