We have an appointment to go check out a fancy hotel in a few hours. Exciting! We have been out to two venues previously, but this is our first hotel.
Is there anything you didn’t ask your hotel venue that you wish you’d asked? Or anything you were suprised by?
My biggest worry is that they’ll want a monstrously huge deposit. We are going to have money trickling in a little at a time for the next year, so if they want something like 50% of the catering budget up front, that would make it impossible. Honestly, we can’t do anything above 10% right now. So fingers crossed on that.

I dont think they want a larger deposit, but I remember seeing some extra services charges on there I wasn’t thrilled with. This was for a Rehearsal Dinner though.
Just thought of another thing. At the hotel I used, they did not serve wine by the bottle. So it was $9 a glass. I thought that was insane not to be able to just pay for an open bar, but had to do it not only by consumption, but by the glass. The booze at our Rehearsal Dinner cost more than the booze for our wedding.

I would suggest asking if they have any other large groups booked at the hotel for that date (conventions, meetings, other weddings). Our wedding was not at a hotel, but I’ve been at conferences and conventions at hotels where weddings were also being held, and I’m not sure it’s the best idea, For example, you don’t want your wedding at a hotel where a fraternity is holding its national convention!
