Your rings are beautiful, and tell your sister the size and formality of your wedding have nothing to do with what your ring looks like.  That’s silly.

If you really want a bigger diamond and your Darling Husband is okay with it, then go for it.  You should do what you want as a couple… I don’t think sister/sister-in-law’s should sway your decision that much.  I think your ring is pretty with how it is now, but you have to do what makes you happy and if it means that much to you, you have the funds, then go for it.

You can always do something else with the current diamond, make it into a necklace or right hand ring.

My SO says that the decision is up to me.

I like my ring and its pretty but I want a bigger rock.

Sounds like you’ve answered your own question.  Smile  It’s really no one elses business!

Good luck with your vow renewal!  Hope it’s everything you envisioned.

I would take it to a jeweler and see if they can set a larger diamond in it.

As long as you still love the ring I see no problem and you get to keep it for sentimental value.

I’d have to agree with your sister in law on this one – I mean – upgrade if you really want to, but certainly not because of some sillyness about “matching the wedding” – thats just absurd.

People upgrade all the time.  Its just a piece of jewelery.  If you want a bigger ring, go for it.  If you want to keep a touch of the old one, how about keeping the same style and getting a bigger center?  Or even if you want something completely different, its totally up to you!  You have your hubbys support, do whatever makes you happy.

You could always get a new ring and wear That one on your right hand as your something old! 🙂

@eperez21: How about this?  Upgrade your center stone. Save the original stone for a child’s future engagement or have it reset and give the jewelry to a child??

I dont know about trading it in. I think you should keep the old set and just get a new ring.

I dont understand why a big wedding must equal a ring upgrade. Personally I would keep the ring

It looks to me like you can upgrade just the center stone.  The jeweler would just put a new head on it.  You could go with a round, another marquise, lots of possibilities there!

If you want an upgrade why don’t you just put a bigger center stone in your ring?
