So I really wanted to get my family those hankies you see that run about 20 dollars a piece. Instead I found the poems on line, printed them off and made them look pretty. Then I ordered the ladies lace ones, and found mens ones at JCpenny. I have a friend who is going to embroider them for me. They will have ended up costing me like 3 dollars each!
1. What do I embroider on them? “Mom””Dad” etc…. or should I personalize it some more and put “Mom” and our wedding date underneath?
2. I usually just see them embroidered in soft colors but my colors are black and green so I was going to embroider them with black. Is that too harsh of a color for a hankie?
Thanks for your help and if you wanted to do this, its a super easy diy!

I am also using hankies. Our hankies say Mother but that is just because I got vintage ones and didn’t do custom creation. I personally think that Mom is nice especially if you are attaching a poem. I would also go with colors that match YOU!

i dont think the colors of the hankie have to match the wedding completly. but i think black would be fine maybe some green accent, like swirls or something.
i would go with whatever you call them, mom and dad is fine if thats what you call them.
you can do “mother of the bride” then the date.
also i dont know what your poems say, but some kind of thank you might be a nice touch.
Mom, thank you for teaching me to love. (or something like that)

For my mom I’m doing:
Today a bride,
Tomorrow a wife,
Always a daughter
And best friend for life.
For my Mother-In-Law:
Thank you for raising your son to be the man of my dreams.
A little cheesy, but they’ll love it.

I’ve seen hankies on Etsy.com, I also found mine at Hobby Lobby then I’m going to get them embroidered as well.

@kimberliyancey: I got mine on ebay. They were like 10 dollars for 6 of them, a great deal!

I love the idea of personalized hankies for my wedding! I’m probably getting mine from CoutureWeddingHankie on Etsy http://www.CoutureWeddingHankie.etsy.com. I love her styles.

For the moms they say ‘Mother of the Bride/Groom’ with the date and a flower. For my dad it will have the date and ‘Another One Bites the Dust.’ He initially wanted this as our father/daughter dance, but either my mom talked him out of it or he chickened out 🙂
