It really depends on how many arrangements you are looking for, how big you want them and if the flowers are in season.  That price seems about right.  I am paying $2,500 in New Orleans.

We payed about $3000…I was a little upset when that was our final amount because I was expecting to be around $2000 when I first met with the florist.  They can get pretty pricey.  But if you’re willing to DIY a lot of it or be creative with the arrangements you can get it for cheaper!

It seems that most wedding planners/articles say expect to pay 10% of your overall budget on flowers.  So a $27,000 wedding would have flowers costing in the $2,700 range.

I personally have about the same budget as you but I absolutely don’t want to spend that amount of money on flowers for a five hour event.  In speaking with a couple of florists (haven’t booked one yet) I found that there are things I can do to keep that cost down – only use fresh flowers for every other table, use candles or something for the other half of the tables.  No fresh flowers for the head table(s), get little vases for the bridesmaid bouquets and use those.  You can also think about doing some of your own flowers, like the bridesmaid bouquets, if you are interested in having a DIY project.  They are actually super easy to make and you can create them the night before.
