Hey bees! My current wedding focus is on what I should do about my veil/headpiece. I was never someone who really loved veils, but I saw Juliet cap veils and fell in love! HOwever, my dress is kind of “busy”, and my mom is worried that a veil will be too much. I also want to wear a headpiece, either in lieu of a veil, or during the reception. What do you think?
I’m having my dress made for my by a local seamstress, but here is the inspiration- it will have a similar pleated skirt:
And here is the type of veil I’m considering:
Do you think it will be too much with the tiered skirt?
I also want to wear a headpiece, either the whole night or just during the reception if I choose a veil. I want to wear a wreath or crown, but I don’t love flower crowns (their bautiful but I think I will look back on my pictures and regret that decision). I do however, love natural elements and metallics and am NOT a fan of bling or sparkle. I found this wreath that I think is perfect (although I would wear it a bit higher up and not accross my forehead):
(And if you know of similar headpieces please let me know because that one is EXPENSIVE! I may try to DIY but we’ll see).
So bees, what do you think? Veil or no veil? What about the headpiece? Any other ideas/suggestions?

I think the Juliet cap veil would look really pretty with your dress. They both have that vintage-y look going on. And I loooooove the headpiece you posted! It’s so dainty and delicate! I have no good suggestions for cheaper options except to search Etsy or maybe even Tradesy for something similar. Good luck!!

I love the idea of the Juliet cap for the ceremony, then change out of it and into the daintier headpiece for the rest of the night. Both are beautiful and both will look lovely with your dress, IMO!

Thanks everyone! Just to clarify, I’m not a huge fan of the flower crown in the first pic (I mean, it looks lovely but its not for me)- I’m mostly trying to decide if the veil will look OK with the dress, for the ceremony or should I just wear a kind of delicate wreath the whole time.
Also, how bad of an idea is it to try and DIY the wreath? I make jewelry as a hobby, I think if I get the right elements (and I’ve seen some things on Etsy that would work), its just a matter of attaching them to wire….

ClaudiaKishi: i think the ‘crown’ is amazing. But so is the headcap. Only thing – headcap might be hard to take off without messing up your hair and walking around with hat head for the rest of the night

MsGinkgo: I thought about the “hat hair” issue but I figure I can secure it with a few bobby pins and hopefully it won’t be too bad…I’m just planning on wearing my hair down and wavy, and it’s really thick/dark which I find means it doesn’t show any “imperfections” (not the right word but you know what I mean) as much.

Lol, self-promotion of ugly headpieces.

What if you combined your ideas and did something like this? It’s a bit less busy than the Juliette cap, but has kind of the same feel. (Also I swear I wasn’t stalking your wreath, it just came up in a google search)
