We will have 3-4 games at my baby shower. So far we only have 1 game picked out and still have to decide on the other 2-3. I am SO clueless as to what the prizes should be for the games. My shower is more of a sprinkle it is going to be very small with 12-14 guests at the most attending. We are team green so I think it might be fun to have one of the prizes be the first phone call when baby is born with gender info and name info. What is the “normal” type of prize for winning a game at a baby shower? I have personally never been to a baby shower.

We gave things for the home like candles, a nice mug & teapot set, etc.

at mine, prizes were small lotions, jewlery, small bath gels, things like that that you wuold find at bath and body works.

At my sister in law’s shower, we played one game that got a ton of laughs: http://www.baby-gifts-gift-baskets.com/blog/2007/06/29/candy-bar-baby-shower-memory-game/
You basically play it as a memory game, with numbered squares hiding pregnancy and baby-related phrases, then the prize for matching the phrases correctly is a candy bar with a related name. So like, the person who wins “Conception” gets a SKOR bar. Or “Milky Way” for breastfeeding. It was really fun – and I enjoyed my “Choosing a Baby Name” win – a Whatchamacalit? bar!

Candles, tins of cookies. Seen a lot of candles. The phone call prize seems like a nice idea, but it might be difficult to pull off with everything else going on that day!

We did bath and body works foaming hand soaps as the prizes for my SIL’s baby shower. It may be kind of boring but at least everyone will use it. I’ve also been to showers where we received small potted plants (to signify growth, I guess) and gourmet hot fudge in different flavors.

@MarryMeTiffany: my sister told me the prizes for my shower will be three $10 giftcards to starbucks and to the smoothie place in our town. We only have 3 games so $10 giftcards for 3 people sounds reasonable.
Also: we have a jar of “its a boy” gumballs in a jar and guests will have the guess the # of gumballs in the jar to win. It’s an extra game and the prize will obviously be the jar of gumballs.
Other than giftcards you could do adorable stationary sets or a diary…
*if you want to pay more for your giftcars you could do giftcards to the movies or to a nearby make-up store like Sephora or Smashbox?

@TurtleDoves: Thanks I was thinking gift cards would be a good idea.
I also like PP soap ideas.

I’m not sure about games at my baby shower, but for my bridal shower my sister gave the vases/decor out as prizes. She found some really pretty pieces to use for decoration, but they weren’t her personal style so she used them as the prizes.
