If it’s any help, years ago I read an article that said if you want your pet to answer to their name, use a name with strong consonants, and no more than two syllables. When I adopted a new, black kitty a few years later, I wanted to name her Noir, or Minuit, but discovered that the French language, although beautiful to hear, is terrible if you want your cat to pay attention. She kept answering to my other cat’s name, which had solid consonants. I ended up giving her a name w/ stronger consonants, than her sister’s name, and she was so good at answering to her name, my friends were always shocked that my cat, always came when I called her name.
