Since you are in the industry, you are sure to know what will work. I would say if dinner isn’t working, go for cocktails, heavy (HEAVY) apps and a cocktail reception which would still work fabulously for NYE.

We are not doing a dinner, we are doing late ceremony (8pm), cocktail hour and as the night comes to a close, a full-on brunch. I think with NYE, you have so much more flexibility as to what will and won’t work.

You seem to really like the venue so I say you should use it.  It sounds amazing and you know just what the location can handle.  The idea of cocktails and apps sounds amazing to me!  I’d never feel like I was missing out of the sit down dinner (to be honest, I’m always full by the time we sit to eat anyway!).  Let us know what you decide!

Go with heavy apps. I think if the space doesn’t work for dinner guests will be just as happy with heavy apps – and then you don’t have to do a seating chart!

OMG, 400 people?  I don’t even LIKE 400 people… just kidding!  This place sounds like the best bet.  And I can’t imagine the idea of a sit down dinner for that many people, the amount of staff and food is overwhelming me just thinking about it.  Think about the amazing photo’s you’ll get from such a unique space.  And, if you’re at all like me and you settle for something you don’t feel as strongly about, you may regret it a bit in the future.
