@Sunshine09:  Do you mean in regards to leave management, or in general?

I had to touch base with my supervisor about when I wanted to leave and for how long.  We ran the numbers to make sure I had enough PTO to cover my absence, and we discussed the possibility of leave without pay or the PTO donor program in case I ran out of time.

I also had to contact our HR department to fill out FMLA paperwork and get that sent to my provider for signatures.

I haven’t gone on leave yet, but my mom said she did stupid chores around the house, like clean the fridge and disinfect knobs and things.  That way when you get home from the hospital, everything is sanitary and tidy.  One less thing for her to worry about.

Darling Husband and I are planning to hire a cleaning team so that the house will be spotless when I come back from the hospital with LO. We have 3 fur babies, so I know its gonna be a mess.

As far as work?  I made sure all paperwork was in & approved so I’d get paid. I had a pretty low maintenance job at the time so didn’t have to do much before going on leave. This time around have to make a plan with my boss for coverage in my store. Same thing as far as paperwork.  House & perdonal life. Nothing really, maternity leave gave me plenty of time to do things around the house to prepare for dd.
