Silly/nitpicky question, but….
The invites that I originally fell in love with (from Bella Figura) are 6.13 X 8.13. Every other invitation I look at from other sellers seems to be 5X7. Is that the standard size for invitations?

Eh, there’s no standard way to send invites. I think the best ones I saw were actually pictures you viewed through a viewfinder!
Ours are gatefolds that fit into a DL envelope. So basically an A4 sheet folded into thirds. I think it’s something like 4×8″.

The reason most invites are the same size is because, sizes that are not standard are more expensive when you buy postage. The USPS has a ton of regulations on sizes. My friend, who is a wedding consultant, says that some brides who insist on having different shaped, or sized invites, sometimes end up paying up to a dollar in postage. eek.

Mine are 5×7’s!! 🙂 Here they are!

5X7 fits the standard A7 envelopes (which are 5.25X7.25) so these envelopes are not hard to find and don’t require extra postage as long as it’s not really heavy. My invites are going to be 5X7

Thanks for the info everyone. Lees, your invites are adorable…I love the tree motif.
So does that mean that an invite that’s larger than 5X7 will need additional postage, even if the weight is the same? Sigh, I LOVE the look of the oversized invites, but I don’t know if it’s worth paying extra for it..

Check out the usps website for the size restrictions (and weight restrictions). My invites from Bella Figura ended up needing around $1 each in postage (plus the stamp on the response envelope)– the thick paper is really heavy (we had inner and outer envelopes, plus the invite, reception card, response card and response envelope, plus a DIY lining). For me, the extra $40-ish in postage was worth it, to have the invitations I wanted.

Mine are DL size because its cheaper to send by post!

MIne fit in an A7 envelope, and they are 5×7. Even A9’s are only 5.75×8.75. Im not sure what size envelope you would use for those…

We designed ours to fit into a regular #10 envelope. They didn’t cost much to make and it was standard postage, win-win!

Our invites are 5×7 pocketfolds which fit into A7 envelopes. “Oversized” and square envelopes/invites cost more in postage. I figured I was going to pay enough in postage without adding more just to get the squared invites I originally wanted.

Mine were 6×6 pocketfolds and they cost $1.00 each to mail.
