My wedding ring is a 2.5 mm band. I chose the size because I wanted something that was the same size as my e-ring band (3 mm) or slightly smaller.

If you get a flat band (no protruding diamonds or gems) then you should not have any problems with it catching on stuff.

You should get your stone set lower so it doesn’t bug you!

I agree with LLauRRa – My Ering is made quite ‘tall’ but got it made with the setting lower, I couldnt imagine my ring with a higher setting I probably would be in your shoes with scrathing ot bumping it on everything.

Maybe check with your jeweller what you could do?

I love my e-ring.  It has a really low setting and hardly ever gets caught on stuff.  This is a really blurry picture, but you might get the idea: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JYVZ6Y5FpI4/Sgsn5_oXZKI/AAAAAAAAAIM/8g5L8Rd9yTM/s1600-h/DSC01125.JPG
It’s a 1.5 carat, 6 mm white gold ring.  We have been talking about doing two 2mm wide, arch diamonds for my wedding band(s) – he wants two on either side to make it look more like a circle.

I think you should definitely look into getting your Engagement Ring re-set with a lower setting.  I think it is sad that you are ready to ditch your Engagement Ring already…you should have something that is really "you" so that you’ll want to wear it every day! Have you thought about a Bezel setting or a half-bezel setting?  I love this look.  And then for the wedding band you could do a bezel set or channel set like the ones below..

The band second from the bottom with several diamonds bezel set into it in a "zig zag" pattern is a  famous Tiffany band called "Etoile".  But, if you don’t want to pay over the top for that little blue box, I’ve seen it many other places too!

I also like the channel set band in the last pic because it’s not the "typical" channel set – the stones in this one are a graduated size (biggest in the middle, smaller on either side).  It gives it some interest I think.

I have a channel set band and I love to wear it when I know I’m likely to be "banging" around a lot.  The diamonds sit perfectly flush with the band and sometimes I forget it’s even on!

GOod luck and happy ring shopping!!!
