I don’t think you’re large for your size…5’10” is taller than average imo (in the US, I don’t know where you’re from), so it makes sense the size you wear would also accordingly go up. Plus, we know nothing of your actual build, so just because you might carry your weight in your lower and thus wear a larger jean size, it isn’t a reflection on your overall size. I often find that I’ll wear sizes much larger than woman who are supposedly my same height and weight, or sometimes even women who are shorter than me but still weight the same and it’s frustrating…but I try to remind myself that I’m bottom heavy. It sucks, but I try not think of myself as “giant” based on proportions.

0-2  but only because I’m a dancer. When I retire I’m going to finally break my diet for once in my life and then we’ll see where I land! Ready for it. Whoever said “Nothing tastes as good as thin feels” was wrooong.

cbgg: You are definitely not “bigger” than the typical woman…if you’re in the US, the average size is a 12! And the average woman is not 5’10, but much shorter.

The other thing is that sizing fluctuates so much from brand to brand. Sizes almost don’t mean anything anymore. The Old Navy or Express size 4 isn’t going to be the same as the expensive evening gown size 4.

I’ve always had a small frame and a high metabolism – I’m currently around 120 at 5’8. I’ve put on a couple pounds in the past year – I used to hover closer to 110. At my height I don’t mind the extra weight as it fills me out a bit! I wear anything from a 00 to a 4 depending on the brand, but most of my clothing is either a 0 or a 2.

Size 6 for the most part, occassionally an 8. I’m pretty short though. Vanity sizing certainly helps!

Is this in US sizing? In Aussie sizing I’m anywhere between a 4-8 depending on the style of the outfit. I think that’s about a 0-4 in US sizing and I’m 161cm tall (I think that’s about 5’3″).

I struggle to find clothing sometimes because my bust is about an 8-10 but my waist is definitely a 4. I buy tops that fit my boobs but then they sit really loose around my stomach and waist. My hips are a 6-8 and up to a 10 when I’m bloated.

Lol can I answer what sz I am in stores that do vanity sizing? 😉 I think women (and men) are beautiful in all shapes and sizes as long as they’re happy.

I am between sizes.  Size 5 is a bit tight, but most size 6 items are too big and loose in the waist. I’m 5’5″ 129 lbs

cbgg:  Just keep in mind that people might be wearing the wrong sizes for their bodies. I have a cousin who is an Aussie size 10 but insists on squeezing herself into a size 6. She just likes the look of tight clothing which is fine, she pulls it off well. Whenever someone asks her what size she is, she says size 6. On the other end of the spectrum my Maid/Matron of Honor could look great in a size 14 but she hates her body and thinks she’s much larger so she’s always wearing clothes that are too big and baggy but that’s what she feels comfortable in. But again, if asked what size she is, she would never say, “I’m 14 but I prefer wearing bigger sizes”. She just says she’s the bigger size because that’s the norm for her and she actually believes it. Sizing is subjective (especially when vanity sizing comes into play).

    I’m a size 0 at 5’5. I’ve been as large as a size 6.

Im currently underweight according to BMI, and I feel too skinny. But I have celiac and colitis, so I’m limited on what I can eat and I’m trying desperately to gain. I recently gained 3/4 inch on my waist for the first time in 2 years!

Sukii:  Thank you for also pointing that out, I think that makes a huge difference. I quite often read about women who wear 2-3 sizes smaller than me despite only having a 5-8 lbs difference at the exact same height. It’s quite disheartening.
