I tried this on at the store and think this is a good size. Maybe a little bigger since I will need a size up in the ring. This ring is a 7.5 and my finger is an 8. She told me it was 5.5 mm, but I thought it seemed bigger than that. I always thought I wanted 7.5 mm, but now I’m not sure if I want to go that big. I also want a cushion though if that matters. Thank you for the help!

I can’t guess what the size of that is, but I would really suggest going with the 7.5 like you were thinking! Shrinkage is totally, super real. When DH gave me my ering I thought it was SO FREAKING BIG, but after wearing it for a little while, it seems to be just the right size, and I can’t believe I ever thought about downgrading haha. So I think if a 7.5 is in your budget and that’s what you were thinking, you should go for it 🙂

My guess is 6.5mm. I’d be surprised if that truly was a 5.5mm.

Looks like a 6.5-7mm to me. Looks much bigger than a 5.5mm. I have a 7.5mm round on a size 7.75 and think its a great size. I would go with the 7.5mm for sure!

I wouls have guess 7mm or 7.5mm on a size 8. That is not 5.5mm at all.

That is definitely not a 5.5. I would say 7 or 7.5. I have a 7.5 cushion on a 4.75 size finger so I say get the 7.5 that you want.

I would ask her to measure that again–it definitely does not look like a 5mm. For your ring size, I would imagine that it should be nearly a 1.5 carat equivalent (~7.5mm).
Here’s a vid of my two rings. The smaller one is a 1.3 carat diamond, which is about 7mm, the bigger one is a moissy 8.5mm. My ring size is 4.5 for reference. Your stone looks bigger than my diamond for sure…
Also, that size stone looks great on your finger! And if you’re on the fence about sizing, always side with the bigger stone–no one regrets getting the bigger one. And as far as ring size of the band, I might go with a size 8 so it doesn’t pinch the skin of your finger as much. You can always get beads or a bar on the inside of the band so that the ring doesn’t rotate. :]

I don’t know if this is helpful, but I’m a size 9.5 and this is a 7.5mm moissanite forever one. I picked it with the help of a simulation tool where I could put my ring size and finger length in, and it would put stones of various sizes/cuts on it – really helped me picture it, as stores never had my size in stock to try on. Here’s the link:

What a very useful link! Thank you!

I’d guess somewhere around 6.5-7mm no way it’s only 5.5mm

Thank you all! I just ordered a 6.5 mm ring from Berricle so hopefully that will help me decide.
