Hi ladies…I know to some weight is a personal subject but to those of you who don’t mind sharing: (and what designer)
What size dress did you order at what weight and height?? I started out at 235 (at 5’7″) and am now down to 190. I am hoping to lose another 40-50 lbs in the next year. We don’t have a wedding date yet so I am not super rushed on getting a dress. I really don’t want to go try on dresses yet as I know (hope) my body will be different when its time to go dress shopping. I am probably going to end up buying a Maggie as I love so many of her styles. Just wanted to get an idea of what size dress fits what weight/height. I know everyone carries weight differently so just hope to get a rough idea.
Thanks in advance!!

I’m 5’11” and about 155 – 160. My dress is a size 10 from The Limited. Fits like a glove.

I would totally wait until you are down at least another 20 more lbs. You just don’t know where you’ll lose the weight first, so your size can vary quite drastically.
As for regular clothes (not dress sizes, as I haven’t gone dress shopping yet), I would say I am generally a size 7/8, 145 lbs, 5’5. Last year I was 134lbs, and a size 4. So really 10 lbs can make a huge difference for sizing. Just depends on muscle to fat ratio and stuff. I would highly suggest not shopping for a dress right now.
Also, congrats on the weight loss. I hope you reach your goal.

I’m 5’4″ and abot 118-121 pounds (depending on the day). My dress is an Enzoani Blue and I ordered a size 6. It needed to be taken in a little in the bodice but the size 4 would have probably been a tight squeez.

I am 6’1″ 185 pounds and wore a size 12 J. Crew dress!

I’m 5’4 and when I ordered my dress, I was probably around 150 lbs. It’s a size 8 and was a little big in the bust and thighs when I got it. I’m now 135 lbs and it’s too big. I’ll probably get it taken down to about a 6.

Even with weight as a guide, I still think size is relative. I’m 5’8, 135 lbs and wore a size 4 wedding dress from David’s Bridal. That being said though, I’m a pear shape so most of my weight is carried in my hips and thighs – had I gone with a mermaid style dress (instead of the natural waist A-line I purchased), I probably would have been a size 6.
Congrats on your weight loss! 🙂

I’m 5’7″ and weigh 120-123 lbs. I wear a 2 street size (Banana Repulic, J. Crew, etc.). I wear a size 6 in bridal.
My first dress was given to me by the designer and it’s an 8, but is being altered as we speak to fit. My second dress is a sample, size 8. I’ll have that altered as well.
In general, it seems that David’s Bridal uses the vanity sizing that regular clothing stores do. Most of the higher end designers use non-vanity sizing, so you’ll need to move two sizes up to find the dress that fits.

I am 5′ 9″ and 218. I just tried on a Sottero and Midgley gown and I was a size 18. I’m hoping to lose a little more myself! The corsets can make you look slim, but I want to do some on my own, too :-).

5ft 2 & 125lbs and my gown is a size 10 (because I have HUGE boobs) I wear street size juniors 3. I fit into a size 6 wedding gown, but it wont zip around the girls so I had to find the size that does and bring in the rest :-/

For Bonnie Bride: 5’0″ ~140, I bought a size 12 but now at 130 I could go with an 8 or 10. At the time wore a 8 in street size pants, 12 in dresses probably.
For David’s Bridal: 5’0″ (but with 3″ heels), ~130, I bought a size 8 but when I was down 4-5 lbs I could down to a 6 if it weren’t for my chest. Wear a comfortable 4 in the same street brand, maybe 10 in dresses (thank you chest)
I carry most of my weight in my chest and hips.

i’ve only tried on ella bridals gowns so far…i’m currently 5’8 and 175lb, and the 12s were too small and 16s too big, so i think i’m a 14 there. i’d expressed my desire to lose approximately 35lb and she seemed to think i’d be an 8 at that point. i don’t think i’ll ever be an 8…i think i’ll probably be a 10 at 5’8 and 140lb, but i have a wide frame across the hips. even when i was skinny (~120lb) i was hopelessly pear-shaped.
