Obviously there is a lot of room for variation in this (dress, height, different proportions, etc) but I’m a street size 8 and 5’2….what would I realistically be looking at in wedding dress sizes?
Did you have a huge gap between your street size and your dress size?
Thanks for your help!

I’m 5’2 and a street size 2 or 4 (I’m either a 2 or a 4 in most major retailers some examples is American Eagle, Gap, Forever21) and ended up having to get a size 8 wedding gown with the designer I went with. The consultant I worked with said that most wedding dresses run a littlle small, but I’m pretty sure it depends on your designer. Most of them have measurement charts though for their sizes that I’m sure you can look up online.

I’m a street size 10 i ordered a 12 for my lazaro. And for maggie i was a 10 because of the corset (you should also keep that in mind whether its corset or zip)

I didn’t have a gap at all! I’m a street size 16/18, bought my gown in an 18 to accomodate my large chest and had to have the waist taken in a TON.
ETA: I am 5’7

I was a 14 and ended up in a 20. Yeah, yeah, I have hips. I think that was a little extreme though.

I’m a street size 4 and they ordered me a size 4 for my Maggie. I’ll go back in March/April to try it on so hopefully it fits!

I am a street 8 and 5’2″, I was everything from an 8 to a 14 depending on where I went. There is a huge variance from designer to designer. Most of them have size charts on their web sites.

All designers are different. I am a street size 18/20 and bought a 22 dress that is a little snug in the hips. Don’t worry about a number, it doesn’t change your size. It’s just a number.

Agree with PP that it’s going to depend on the designer. I’m a 10 or 12 street size, 5’2″ and 150 lbs, my wedding dress is a size 10! I was shocked, but it is a corset so *shrug*
Don’t worry about the numbers!
EDIT: My dress is a Sottero and Midgley FYI.

I’m a street size 2/4 and ended up being an exact size 4 for the La Sposa Fanal.

I’m a 2/4 and my dress was a 10. But I’m chesty.

I’m a 8 in pants, 6 in dresses and ordered a 10 for my Maggie. It was the size I tried on and knew it was a bit big, but I had rather be safe than sorry. Lol

It depends on the designer. I was a street size 6 when I got married, and I ended up needing a size 8 for my wedding dress. Though some dresses I tried on put me up to a 12.

I wear about a 10 in pants but an 8 (sometimes a 6) in dresses. My wedding dress I ordered is a 10 (same size as the sample and it fit almost perfectly). According to my hip measurement, I should have ordered a 12 in the wedding dress but I’m afraid I would have spent a lot more $ taking it in everywhere else if I did that and the sample fit great. I’m 5’11” and I get to go back and try on my dress tomorrow! woo!

I’m 5’1″ and a street size 6/8 depending on the style – my wedding dress is a 14!
