    I don’t have a cake stand. Do I need one?

    I really should have chosen other if there had been an option.  lol Mine was 4 branches and each was 14 or 15 inches.

    It depends on your cake and how much of a reveal you want.

    The bottom tier of our cake was a square 14″ so our cake stand that my husband made was a square 16″.

    My cake stand is 14″ square. We are having a small wedding…around 60 guests so I am not doing a gigantic cake.

    Excuse the boxes and the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress that is reflecting off the top of the stand….that room is wedding central for about 6 more weeks give or take a day or two.

    ETA: Our bottom layer will be 12″ square so that you can see some of the scrollwork around the top of the stand…and so I can place a flower cluster at one of the corners of the bottom layer.

    @bells:

    have you confirmed your cake sizes with your baker yet? I would wait till that before making a cake stand.

    Oops. My bottom tier was actually 16″….so I think my stand was probably 18″.

    The dimension were 16″, 12″ and 8″ and it was square so it will render more slices than a round cake.

    I had 140 guests and there were SO MUCH leftover cake. But we also had a ice cream sundae bar.

    @bells: This is a neat chart that I found on Publix website that translates layer size to serving size. I used it to determine what size cake stand I needed/wanted to buy.
