michellelynn9175 :  I am kinda confused, is your ering going to be 6mm and then your wedding band 5.75mm?

    michellelynn9175 :

Your posts made me smile so much!  SO and I are looking at settings at the moment and I have 100% done some arts and crafts on the paper ring front.

To answer your question though, I prefer the smaller stone.  You will feel less odd wearing it running errands etc. and you’re less likely to catch things on it.  Just my 2c

michellelynn9175 :  After reading everyone’s input the 8 by 10 does seem perfect. I did the paper stone thing too and while it helps, it’s really nothing like a very bright and sparkly stone that’s raised up above your finger. An 8 x 10 will have a lot of presence! I’m used to wearing large gems in the 10, 12 and 14 mm range but the moissanite is such an attention grabber, I initially thought I should have gone smaller, and my ring size is 9.5.

    Okay, wedding band…check.

    Center stone size…check

The thing about “shrinkage” aka getting used to your stone, is it happens regardless of what size you pick. Remember that. So my vote is something tasteful, the 3 carat.

Then get yourself a 1 carat solitiare to wear for a week when “shrinkage” sets in (or just wear your wedding band). When you put your halo back on it will feel WOW again.

It’s a delicate game, trying find the right size for your finger type. I wish you luck 😊

I have short fingers. Size 7 because of my ridiculous knuckles. Thick bands, elaborate large settings and large stones don’t look good on my fingers.

Looking at the pics you posted, I’d say go with a stone the size that you mocked up, and a single pave band without much gapping. Like another said, with that twisted band, your engagement ring is going to sit too high and you jut don’t have enough real estate for it to look right. ( I don’t either)…

Maybe this will help? 11×9 (left) v. 10×8 on right on size 7.5.

This is with a halo, assuming 2 mm/size (which may be a bit small).

michellelynn9175 :  Sorry to hear about your husband’s layoff. I vote for the 10 by 8 still. I feel like larger one is going to obscure so much of the wedding band!
