I need your help deciding if the stone and setting I have chosen is going to look too big on my finger. I know for some of you, that is not possible, but indulge me!
I have decided on a cushion cut FB Moissanite, and I would like to have this setting. The ring pictured is a 1.1 equivalent, and 6 x 6 mm. The halo adds 1.2 mm and I have a size 5.5 finger. There is the possibility of going to a 5.5×5.5 but I wonder, would it be noticeably smaller?
Does anyone have a stone this size in a halo? I’d love to see a photo.
I will be mid twenties, likely soon to be finishing law school or having just finished (as will my SO) and I’m a little nervous about people thinking that it’s a big ring for someone just out of school.
We have talked about it (at length!) and have decided that we will not be offering the information that it is a moissanite (except to our parents) for a few reasons:
– we’re not sure yet that we love the stone and if we don’t, we will replace it with a diamond (right away, we can afford the same size diamond)
– we may do that in the future anyway, and then my e ring will always be known as a moissy
– lawyers can be snobby
– i don’t feel like educating everyone i meet about moissanite. i just don’t want to.
Please don’t lecture me about ‘passing it off’ or call me shallow 🙂
I’ve tried rings with similar specs on in the past (but foolishly didn’t take photos), and right now i’m living away from home in a place with few jewelry stores and fewer 1 carat rings!
For the record, my SO thinks that we should get the 6×6 in the halo and feels that I shouldn’t choose a ring to suit the next 12 months post engagement (ie just out of school) but that we should choose a ring that will suit the rest of my life (ie kick ass lawyer!)
So wise bees, thoughts?
