Right now in regular clothes I range from a 4 to an 8. Women’s clothing is sized so randomly. My wedding dress is a size 6, and doesn’t need any alterations other than hemming and a bustle added.

I have a smaller top half than bottom half too. I typically wear a size 10 in pant sizes. I bought a ballgown wedding dress, that is a size 6. Fits perfect on the top, no alterations needed, and because it is a ballgown, it fits my size 10 hips too with no issues! Whether you go up sizes, down sizes or wear the same size, it really doesn’t matter because the dress you pick will be stunning and you are the only one who will know what size it is! Smile

I’m normally between a 2-4 but I bought an 8 since it was a sample and it’s getting taken down to a 2.

I am a size 8 and my dress size is a 14. They will be taking in a lot as my chest and waist are much smaller than my hips. I now wish I had ordered a 12 but the consultant wanted to be safe for my hips. She measured my waist as a size 10 (wedding dress) and chest as a size 10-12.

I’m a street dress size 16-18, and my dress is a 22, which got a hearty “fuuuuuuck?” when she said it out loud.  Ha!  Bridal consultant hurried to reiterate that bridal sizes are bullshit, and to pay no attention.

I’m usually a 6 dress and got an 8 in my gown. In Alfred Angelo dresses, I needed something like a 12!! I have a huge ribcage…

I know it’s not the best feeling.. honestly, I feel like if “vanity sizing” exists in the world, this should extend to the bridal world where we are all self-conscious and concerned about feeling beautiful even more than normal! But when you fall for a dress, you’ll feel so beautiful that you’ll forget about the number on the tag. Truly. Good luck!

@cls9q

brace yourself. it will suck. Dress sizes that day made what should be a happy day, not so happy. When i was trying on gowns i was probably a 14. They were putting me in 20’s and i wanted to die. Then i went to davids bridal and i ordered a 14W. It was pretty true to size minus the plus size part. It was a blow to my self esteem. Since then i have lost 44 pounds! Davids bridal let me exchange my gown for a smaller size. I ordered a 12 even though i am an 8 now. Still stung a little since i still have body issues even though i lost a ton of weight.

They will order your dress based on your largest measurement and alter the rest to fit your smaller measurements. It sucks the way sizes run since we are used to seeing different numbers.

Totally depends on the brand. High end couture stuff tends to run on a more European scale. I normally wear a size 2 or 4 dress, my Vera Wang gown in a size 8. Everyone knows they run small, I wouldn’t worry about it!

Normally a 12 and had to order an 18 wedding dress. Between that and not fitting into any samples, dress shopping wasn’t my favorite part of the planning.

It was a corseted bodice which they said runs tighter and I had the top taken in some, but not a ton.

Size 0-2 normally, size 2 wedding dress. I was surprised since everyone talks about how small wedding dresses are. Could be that my brand runs bigger than the norm.

I was dreading this after going dress shopping with one of my best friends who is a street size 0 and her wedding gown was a size 6..

Luckily, my dress designer doesn’t do number sizes so I (currently at a street size 6) surprisingly ended up with a size XS.

I ain’t mad.

Street size 2/4, dress size 10! I’m nervous it’s going to be too big but they measured me

I honestly had a surprising time at bridal shops.

Im a street size all over the place kinda girl. Im only 5’3 and I’m not really a big girl but I got thighs and a but so depending on what it is/the cut I can fit anywhere from a 6 to a 10-12 in pants sometimes. It is all over the place.

Because of this, and bridal sizing stories I heard.. I was terrified to put on a size 10 for fear it wouldn’t fit. It did, and I discovered I fit an 8 bridal. Then I was looking and saw my dress and it said it was a 5 so I almost didn’t try it on. But I did and I bought it. It’s inly tight across the bust and that is the part of me that isn’t bodacious haha.

Those trumpet dresses were tight in a 10 though, so it really depended on the style for me.

I learned my lesson… Just try it on! Screw the tag.
