I am likely going to have my saxophonist/keyboard ensemble play a jazzy version of “You are so beautiful” – Kenny G style…lol

@Miss Orchard:  Agree 100%!!! I love Canon in D. It’s just so wedding to me, and will definitely make me tear up. Here comes the bride seems tacky to me as well.

However, if I were going to choose a modern song, it would be Marry Me!

A very good friend of mine, Jenny, is going to sing Matthew West’s “When I Say I Do”.  We are not having a bridal party do my fiance’ and I will be walking toward each other from opposite sides of the outer perimeter of the gazebo…when the song ends we will have met each other in the middle in front of our officiant…who is another one of our best friends.

I’m walking down to an instrumental of You are my Sunshine. It’s what he sings to me all the time. My girls are walking out to Canon in D

I’m walking down to Marry Me by Train – the song literally takes my breath away and I can’t wait!

Oh, and my DJ is setting up outside to play my ceremony music (ceremony and reception at the same place)

I love Train and the song Marry Me, but the verse “If I Ever get the nerve to say hello in this cafe” always throws me off with that song. It seems like the song is so sweet, but then I get the feeling that he’s singing in his head to a girl that he’s never talked to and may never talk to … and then I think the song is actually sad. I’m bad at inturpreting these things. Does anyone know what that line in the song is all about?

@MsBlissMpls that is what the song is about, I do not like that song cause of it. It’s a creeper song not a wedding song

I’ll be walking to “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness” by the Smashing Pumpkins.

I play it all the time on the piano; and Fiance plays on my name all the time, calling me “Melancholy”.

I like Marry me by Train but the lyrics doesn’t make sense for walking down the aisle IMO.  (it’s like the guy having a crush on the girl and nothing happened yet) But I will definitely use this for reception.

I know CANON IN D is classic.  I have heard it on almost all the weddings I have been to so far already.  But this is the only song I had teary eyes when I hear it every single time so I guess this should be it? 🙂

Oh wow. I just read the lyrics to that one (even though it is on guitar) and the tears started forming. Good one!

We changed ours… we are doing “Life’s a Happy Song” from the Muppet Movie. It’s too cute and we are OBSESSED with the Muppets.
