“Vivir Lo Nuestro” by Marc Anthony & La India. We are Puerto Rican so a salsa seemed appropriate for us. It was also a dedication to my mother who passed away 2 years ago… it was her favorite song and she and I used to dance to it while cooking together.

My dad and I danced to Little Miss Magic by Jimmy Buffet (we’re both Parrotheads).
I think we are wedding dress twins!

My dad is tough with music so I wanted it to be perfect! I was between a few songs but I always knew my dad was a HUGE Grateful Dead fan so I wanted to find something he would like and I wanted to try to find something from the Grateful Dead that was appropriate and I found “I Will Take You Home” which was written by Brent Mydland as a lullaby for his daughters before he died. My dad was at their show and saw the last time it was ever performed live. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room and my dad was a bawling mess because I surprised him with it on my wedding day. I still tear up when I hear that song.
The other song I really loved was “It Won’t Be Like This For Long” By Darius Rucker.

My dad is really picky with music too! i told him all he had to do was pick a song. He chose a song by Airborne Toxic Event called ‘A letter to Georgia’ It’s actually kind of sad. But all alternative music slow songs are so I was just happy he found something he likes

To My Daughter by Charles Aznavour (Probably the English version).
This song was essentially MADE to be a father-daughter dance song. Check out the lyrics:
I know the time will come
For life will soon demand it
When you will find someone
Who’ll take you far away
And you will never see
The sadness in my smile
Your eyes will overflow
With happiness and tears
No you will never see the shadow
In my heart as I watch for the word
The spring of all my years
And I’ll conceal the pain
Beneath a father’s pride
While in the silent church
Together side by side
Each measured step
Would bring me closer to the time
You’ll say the simple words
And I’ll be left in sorrow

We danced to “In My Life” by the Beatles. I’m glad we chose it! 🙂

We danced to “Hold Me” by Fleetwood Mac. Although the lyrics didn’t match the meaning behind a father/daughter dance, I chose it because it reminded me of the many road trips we would take together and sing the song with each other. Plus, I think father/daughter dances are so weird, so I didn’t want anything slow; I wanted it to be upbeat and happy.

We danced to Butterfly Kisses. Its not a well known song in the UK and it had a lot of people in tears. We almost lost my dad 2 months before the wedding with complications from Pancreatitis and we didnt now if he would be able to even walk me down the aisle. I had never danced with my dad before and it was a very special moment. We both cried.
having this line in the song “I know the cake looks funny, Daddy, but I sure tried.” made my desicion. We both laughed at that one. personal joke!

We did “I Loved Her First,” but not the original version. I like country music, but the original has way too much twang for me. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. It was so special.
