We went with “Crazy Love” by Van Morrison. It was the shortest song on our short list.

We are dancing to “This I Swear” by Nick Lachey. Fiance heard it the other day and fell in love. He said it fits us and, well, *swoon*

We are going with “You Belong to Me” the Jason Wade verison. We clashed a lot in what we wanted for a first dance song. I was trying really hard to find something that I thought reflected us as a couple (so I was really focused on lyrics) whereas Fiance wanted something that would be easy to dance to and had a romantic feel to it (so he was more focused on the actual music).

We ultimately picked this song because it’s one we both love. I don’t know how much the lyrics reflect us as a couple but I decided that it really doesn’t matter, we just need a song that we both like and can dance to! No matter what song we pick it will be a special moment so it was a lot easier to agree on a song once I took the pressure off of it.

We are doing “our” song which is have a little faith in me by John hiat.  When we first started dating this song always came on when Fiance had his music on shuffle in the car during our serious convos or hard times so it’s special for us. I had been hurt in the past a lot so he was always saying trust me or have faith

lolatheshowgirl:  “Love” by Musiq Soulchild. I honestly have always said that if I ever got married, that would be my first dance song. It’s one of those songs that moves me to tears almost every time.

Totally unrelated to first dance – but Fiance thought November Rain (played by a quartet) would be a total hoot for guests to listen to before the ceremony.

We’re having a DJ instead. :p

Take a listen to “You Are Mine” by Spencer Combs and Holley Maher. It is so so beautiful and I had never heard it played at any wedding before. We love the chorus of the song: “But until then, til my last breath rolls in, oh I am yours and you are mine” because since high school we have been signing love letters with “I am yours and you are mine.” This song just fit perfectly.

lolatheshowgirl:  Sunday kind of love by Etta James. We met out at a bar on a Saturday so the part of the song that says “…a love to last past Saturday night” really brings on the tears for me

My now DH surprised me with “Embraceable you” sung by Nat King Cole. He know I love music from that time, but said he didn’t had the nerve to dance at our wedding. But as music started playing in the evening “Ebraceable you” comes on and he stands there offering me his hand. I had to fight so hard not to start crying tears of joy big time as we danced. Just this Friday he surprised me again while I was cooking our dinner. Asked me if I had a few minutes and put on that song. I think I am just gonna swoon a little, I really love that song and even more so with the new memories attached to it

lolatheshowgirl:  Almost positive we’re doing All of Me by John Legend. It came out during a particular time in our relationship as we were talking about marriage seriously, and we love the lyrics of the song.

I also really really like You and Me by Dave Matthews Band. Those lyrics also speak really well about how we see the future together. He’s not as familiar with the song though so I guess it means more to me. Which is why we’ll probably go with John Legend, which is sepcial to us both.

My friend did Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran, another excellent choice!

We used Radiohead’s Creep by Postmodern Jukebox.  I’ve always loved the song (we’re more into rock/alternative music), and I’d heard it arranged a few times with a 1930s jazz/blues feel.  It really struck us the first time we heard this particular arrangement, and we were totally sold on it 🙂

“Beautiful Mess” by Jason Mraz.

We couldn’t agree on one for the longest time, because we have very different tastes in music.  I’m a country girl, while he could listen to EDM all day.  I hate most of his playlist and he hates most of mine lol.  So we’d go back and forth a few times a day taking turns going, “Ooh!  What about ____.”  “No.”  Finally, he woke up one morning and said we’re going to pick a song. So we sat at his computer and just listened to song after song on his playlist.  When that one played (I had never heard it before, but he knew it) it just clicked.  It was perfect.  Describes our relationship beautifully, and has a sound that we both like (which is rare).
