We are still not sure if we are eloping or wedding-ing, but one of our strongest contenders is Heroes by David Bowie. We both love Bowie, and the lyrics are really meaningful.
I also love, love, love God Only Knows by the Beach Boys. But I’ll probably save that for walking down the aisle because it’s short.

Lullaby – Dan Wilson (co-wrote with the Dixie Chicks) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKQ6J35l96o
The only versions on YouTube of Dan Wilson are live versions, but iTunes has the actual song and it’s so beautiful.

- Wedding: October 2016 - Wedgewood Las Vegas
I had my heart set on “Truly, Madly, Deeply” by Savage Garden. But the other day my Fiance saw my play list, and told me a sad story in connection to that song…he had no idea I wanted it for our first dance. After hearing the story, there is no way we’re going with it. 🙁
So now I’m back to square one….I need ideas too!

We’re probably doing VSQ’s cover of “Say Yes” by Elliott Smith. We just chose on Valentine’s day.
He’s opening a little restaurant in a few days. He surprised me by taking me there, moving the tables out of the way & we danced to a few songs we were considering (trying them out….. we’re not coordinated lol). It was very sweet. 🙂

Yep I think by my wedding it will be REALLy overdone but I just love it so much and I had put it on a cd for fi when we first started dating and we’ve loved it ever since so we can either go with overdone but our song or do something less popular but not as meaninful. I’m torn

We’ll be dancing to an acoustic version of Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

We chose Tom Odell’s cover of Real Love by John Lennon. When the song says “seemed like all I really was doing was waiting for you” it melts my heart. When Fiance hears it he says it is just us and wouldn’t have any other song. The Tom Odell version is nice and short too, which was important.

But then on the other hand it’s only overdone in the sense that other people have used the song, and we didn’t attend all of those weddings. For us, it’s the first time. My Fiance and I don’t really have a special song so choosing something is really hard!

Such a good choice! I love Tom Odells version and the shortness is definitely a bonus. Such a beautiful song.

Home by Edward sharp and the magnetic zeros!

We chose the reprise of “I’ll Cover You” from Rent. We both love musicals and early in our relationship we realized Rent was both our favorite and we’d sing the score in the car together all the time.
The reprise is beautiful and slower than the original… but it’s from a funeral scene. We were worried it would feel morbid but it’s gorgeous and sounds joyful, and really there was only about a dozen or so people there familiar with it so I don’t think it was too bad.

we danced to John Legend and Meghan Trainor “Like I’m Going To Loose You”. It was a last minute change as we were going to dance to Ed Sheeran “Thinking Out Loud” but it became so increasingly popular by the time our wedding rolled around I was so sick of it!! My mother suggested the other song and there it was.
I LOVE Rent!!!! My husband, not so much as me lol. He said he wanted to get “Won’t you like my candle” engraved on my band since I sing that to him when I ask him to light the candles though, and I thought that was soo sweet(he has lighters on him at all times)

Crazy Little Thing Called Love – Queen
Super fun and upbeat, we aren’t about the mushy slow dance type song, it felt too awkward to dance like highschoolers in front of everyone. Instead we played this song (we love Queen, they are our go-to road trip music) and had a blast dancing quickly to it and everyone said we “danced so well” and I got asked a couple times if it took long to “work on” and “was it all choreographed??”.

Our first dance is going to be to Blue Rodeo – Lost Together (Canadian band that both of our parents love and we grew up listening to them). I knew right away that I wanted it to be our first dance song but I wanted him to choose a song, I was really curious to know what he would pick! A few weeks ago we were talking about wedding music and he said he thinks Lost Together should be our first dance song! So perfect because we both thought of it without the other even mentioning it! The song is a little long (over 5 minutes) so halfway through we are going to have the DJ make a quick announcement for all the couples to come join us for the rest of the song.
I LOVE Crazy Love.. it will definitely be playing at our wedding, along with a couple other Van Morrison songs. So mellow, lovely and just perfect!
