i wonder this because i want to tell them not to play all of those annoying cha cha slide songs and the freakin chicken dance and all of that. but when i told my mom she acted like she was going to have a heart attack and told me that i “CANNOT TAKE AWAY THE HUSTLE!” what song do DJs even play for people to hustle? i vaguely remember from my cousin’s graduation party that my family was drunk and absolutely loving this dance but i can never get into that. so what song should the DJ play for that?

There’s a song called the Hustle. “The Hustle” by Van McCoy (1975). 🙂 My husband and I put together a playlist for a friend’s 40th birthday party, and this song was on it.

The song is called Do the Hustle. And btw… I would be careful to eliminate all of the group dances. I went to a wedding this weekend and and no one danced at all until the group songs came on.

I’m actually taking hustle lessons tonight, so I’ll let you know!
Fiance and I are taking a bunch of different styles of dance lessons so we can be all over the dance floor: 2-step, swing, salsa, hustle, etc.

mariavvisa‘s right. It’s mostly Aunts, Uncles & older relatives who actually do the dance itself, I’ve never seen it done as a group dance like the electric slide or anything. Most people I know just dance to it and joke around like when Stayin’ Alive comes on – it’s fun. We’ll prob. play it.
