Mine are “Lady in Red” by Chris DeBurg because I danced with my father to that song at a wedding. He is no longer with us anymore, so it reminds me of our “father daughter” moment.
Another one is “How to save a life” by the Fray. I was going through a breakup and had just dropped the guy off at the airport and this came on while in the way home and wishing I had my daddy there to talk to. Totally lost it.
The RENT soundtrack (I’m a total RENT head – cry everytime I see it…) and “Circus Lights” by Paul Durham/Black Lab (my all-time favorite band). When I saw him live (finally! after 12 years of being a fan!!) I lost it when he played this as his last song. I finally got to meet my favorite musician after 12 years and hear my favorite songs performed live – it was a dream come true and I couldn’t hold my *ish together… since he films his performances for his website, I’m totally on camera crying my eyes out to some silly song. LAME!
I should add Beethoven’s Sonata No. 8, Opus 13 / “Pathetique” (the adagio movement) and Chopin’s Nocturne No. 2 in E Flat Major…they made me cry when I first learned to play them and I still bawl listening to them from time to time, haha.
There’s something about the Beethoven piece that’s just heartbreaking.
personally im biased to train’s ‘marry me’ since its going to be our wedding song, so i cry thinking of that… and the song i will be walking down the aisle to, ‘the book of love’ by peter gabriel. lots of crying. lol
“Never Grow Up” by Taylor Swift. Obviously its about not wanting to grow up, and her moving into her first apartment, and realizing that being little meant no responsabilities. And that is where I am in my life, just moving into my first place, and feeling sad about how carefree childhood was.
