This may sound a bit odd because it’s not a mushy love song and is actually quite sad, but “Star Witness” by Neko Case always reminds me of falling in love with Darling Husband. I heard it for the first time when I was driving home from our first date. I thought it was so hauntingly beautiful, and hearing it always takes me back to that night and how blissful and excited I felt.

Rick Astley – Never Gonna Give You Up.  Hahahah.

ETA: We’re both gingers who love 80s music.

Theres 2 songs.

Infinity 2008 by Josh Guru Project http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rjpDYP9RBk

because we danced to this in our favorite bar in our favorite place in the world and that was the night we talked about our future for the 1st  time. We planned to move there in 10 years and were still sticking to that plan so I love when I hear this song!!!

&

Cinema by Benny Benassi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8k01lcSB0-g

(sweetest lyrics ever)

and because we really connect over movies in general and were getting married in a theater… Our violinist is playing a violin version of this song for us to walk back up the aisle to. =D We heard Skrillex do this song live at Starscape last summer too which was pretty cool in itself.

My hubby loves music and relates just about everything in his life to music, so there are many moments that bring back a song for me.  But the most impactful one is the one that was playing when he proposed, and the one that we will be sharing our first dance to: Night and Day – the Tony Bennett version.

You Are My Rock – Beyonce

Lyrics: (Only posting the course once to make it short.)

If I wrote a book about where we stand The title of my book would be “Life with Superman” That’s how you make me feel I count you as a privilege This love is so ideal I’m honored to be in it I know you feel the same I see it everyday And all the things you do And all the things you say

Course:

You are my roc Baby you’re the truth You are my roc I love to rock with you You are my roc You’re everything I need You are my roc So baby rock with me

I wanna kiss ya, feel ya, please ya just right I wanna touch ya, love ya, baby all night Reward ya, for all the things you do You are my roc I love to roc with you I love to roc with you

If I wanna try to count the ways You make me smile I’ll run out of fingers Before I run out of time To sing to talk about Sugar you keeps it going on Make me wanna keep my loving strong Make me wanna try my best To give you what you want and what you need Give you my whole heart, not just a little piece More than a minimum, I’m talking everything More than a single wish, I’m talking every dream

There’s options I don’t want them They’re worth my time Cause if it’s not you, oh no thank you I like us just fine You’re a roc in the sand You’re a smile in a cry You’re my joy through the pain You’re the truth through the lies No matter what I do I know that I can count on you

& Also “She’s Everything” By Brad Paisley.

To Make You Feel My Love, Garth Brooks version especially but of course the Bob Dylan original.  We drove across Texas and New Mexico at the beginning of our relationship and we listened to this song together and we both always thought of this song when we thought of each other. Plus it was really hard for both of us to live completely in the beginning, but something about being with each other really made us want to show the other how much we loved each other. This was always our song and was our first dance as a married couple.

It’s weird, but the whole Ziggy Stardust album (David Bowie) reminds me of us. When we first started dating some friends and I had drinks at his place and he was playing the concert DVD in the background (and I love David Bowie and kept thinking the whole night “I really hope it works out with this guy because he has awesome taste”).

Whenever I listen to the album now, it’s a pleasant association. Now it’s hands down my favorite album. Specifically the songs “Five Years” and “Moonage Daydream.”

Calling You by Blue October. For the first 3 years of our relationship, I was away at college. I came home every weekend, but when I was gone we would spend like 2 hrs a day on the phone.

Ohh, good question…

1. the songs I was listening to over and over during the time we first started ‘talking’ – when I hear them, I get hardcore flashbacks, though they’re not romantic songs or anything, like the T.I. songs Ready for Whatever, Live Your Life, and Dead and Gone.

2. Another one that always does is Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden hahahaha the part of the chorus that goes, “I wanna lay like this forever, until the sky falls down on me” is how I feel being with him 🙂

3. Out Loud by Dispatch – I LOVE this song, and it brings tears to his eyes when he hears it, both because of the lyrics and also because I put it on a dorky romantic mix cd I made him for valentines day when we started dating and were in a LDR.

4. Let’s Stay Together – Al Green. He got me hooked on Al Green, starting with this song, and I remember when we saw him perform it live.  It always brings a smile to my face and makes me think of our relationship.
