- Wedding: March 2015
I will be getting married at the end of summer in a park in Perth, Australia and I’m trying to pick the song that I should walk down the isle to.
I need you to consider a few things: I eloped 4 years ago in Vegas (we HAD to due to problems with my Visa being activated by the goverment by mistake. What’s funny is that the Australian Government suggested us to elope!), just the 2 of us, so this is us doing it right with all our family and friends, although to me this is going to be when I get REALLY married, if that makes sense 🙂
Second thing, neither of us is extremly religious and I can’t remmembr when’s the last time I went to church to pray. Also, our family isn’t really religious either.
Last thing, Fiance is giving me free reign with everything as he says it’s my day (he’s perfectly happy with eloping!).
So, this brings me to the “song dilemma”. I always envisioned myself walking down the isle in a church to “here comes the bride”. But I’m in a park and I’m wondering if that would be too much. Also, I really want to play “Ave Maria” by Celine Dion. My grandmother used to say that she wanted me to play it at my wedding and since she died back in 2001, that would be my way of remembering her as she was a huge part of my life (she practically raised me). My only problem is gthat it’s a VERY religious song and it’s in a park at not exactly a real wedding (although it’s extremly real to me!).
I guess I’m very scared about what everyone else will think. This whole day has been judge negatevely by my whole family with people calling it a “thing”, a “vow renewal” and a “celebration” and completely refusing to use the W word. My friends and FI’s family and friends understand the whole circumstances and have always seen us as legally married but not really married, more like engaged. and to them this is when we officially “seal the deal”, so to speak 🙂
I don’t want people to think that it looks like I’m trying too hard or for the whole day to look like a big fake thhing cause to us, and especially to me, this is real!
So, do I go with Celine Dion and her “Ave Maria” and stuff everyone else, go more traditional and less religious with Wagner’s “Here comes the bride” or should I change direction all together?!? And if I should change, what do you suggest?
As you can tell, I am at a total loss, so any help at all will be highly appreciated 🙂
Thanks Bees xxx
