Alright, bees. This has been on my mind since getting engaged. I want my walk down the aisle to be memorable and meaningful to my Fiance. We’re having a pretty untraditional ceremony and choosing all the music ourselves. With that said. . . here are my top choices:
Glee Cast – Isn’t She Lovely
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lbzdhdSkPo
This is the first song I thought of walking down the aisle to once getting engaged. But it’s technically about a baby being born. That’s my hesitation. I’ll admit it, I’m a Gleek, and I love this version. . . how it starts slow and picks up. I think it’d be a fun song to walk down the aisle to.
Adam Sandler – I Wanna Grow Old With You

I would cut out the opening so it would start with the song. This song holds a special place in my heart because we were watching The Wedding Singer the first time Fiance said “I Love you” to me. We used to say this was “our song”. My only hesitation is that he says “I could be the man who grows old with you”. Naturally, I’m not a man. I feel like that defeats the purpose of ME using it for my walk down the aisle.
A Whole New World

Cheesy, I know. But Fiance and I are Disney freaks/fanatics/addicts. . . whatever you want to call it! This is our “duet” we always sing in the car. . . and we do it quite well I must say. Is it appropriate for a walk down the aisle, though?
BoysLikeGirls ft. Taylor Swift – Two is Better Than One

Fiance usually doesn’t express feelings or emotions too well, but when this song came out he told me he felt it was very “us”.
So, bees, what do you think? I’d also love to hear what you’re walking down the aisle to, as well!

I’m a total sucker for that scene in The Wedding Singer. It’s such a sweet song, I don’t think the lyrics saying man/woman/he/she matter in this situation. Any lyrics that expresses a loving feeling would be appropriate, doesn’t matter who is saying it to who.

Do you already have a first dance song picked out? I feel like the Adam Sandler one would be great for a first dance, then you could use one of the other ones you really like for the procession.

@PinkAndPearls2013: yeah, we’re dancing to “A Thousand Years (pt. 2)”. I sang it to him when we were dancing at his brother’s wedding and he was in tears. It was always a song I considered for our first dance and when we saw Breaking Dawn Pt. 2 and they played the new version of it, I knew it had to be it, and he agreed. It just has special meaning for us (and has nothing to do with Twilight, lol)

@madteaparty: What fun songs! Sounds like they’re each special, so no matter which one you pick it will be meaningful. One thing to keep in mind is that that unless you have a very long aisle or walk really really slowly, there probably won’t be time for a full song. Is your ceremony venue available for you to “practice” a couple times to see how long it takes to walk? You might need to narrow it down to a couple verses, which could make it easier to pick the perfect one.

OHMYGOSH I wanna change my vote!!! I knew all the other ones but silly me had never heard the Adam Sandler one and because it’s Adam Sandler and he’s always a freaking goof ball I thought the song would be dumb but then I listened to it and YOU SHOULD DO THAT ONE! ๐ HAHAHA.

I gotta say, I always give a bit of side eye to any walk-down-the-aisle song that focuses on how pretty a girl is, because I know for a fact that 9 times out of 10, the bride picks it out ๐
I would go with the Adam Sandler. The first time I heard it, I cried. That’s a big accomplishment considering my strongest association with Sandler up ot that point was the line “my brother likes to masturbate with baby oil.”

@Daisy_Mae: Right. My aisle is 100 foot long, as far as I know. I’m really starting to lean towards the Adam Sandler one. . .I think it may be just long (or short!) enough.

@lochnessy: LOL! It’s from the movie The Wedding Singer! It’s still a little silly, but so sweet at the same time. =) I’ll consider your vote changed. ๐
