So I originally planned to walk down the aisle to “here comes the bride” because i consider myself pretty traditional.
But I’ve seen some videos of brides walking down to songs that, in my opinion, make much more of an emotional impact. And I want to make my guests CRY… totallykidding lol. But I just think the moment between FH and I will be that much more beautiful =)
This is what I’ve come up with :
(BTW We’ll have a string quartet playing, so the songs will be instrumental–I’ve included links of other string players who’ve played it, but it’s not our band)
Christina Perri – “A thousand years” (okay, i freaking love this song, but I feel like everyone would associate it with Twillight… and that’s not why I like it – It’s beautiful, i love the lyrics, it’s just so fitting and seems like “us.” Do you associate it with Twillight?) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zk8pgi6gQLg
I say other because I walked down to You and me by Lifehouse but Christina perri a thousand years was a contender for a while, but part2 with Steve kazi as well. love the lyrics in that one. Jason myraz nice song but I think a bit slow personally. And bridal walks boring 😉
@PrincessBride27: i have been considering using 1000 years to walk down the aisle and once i realized it was in twilight i started to second guess myself…however it is such a beautiful song and when i first heard it being played by the piano guys on youtube as an instrumental i fell in love
I don’t think you should worry how everyone else will feel about the song. If it creates emotion between you and your FH then your guests will see that. My SO and I absolutely love the song It’s Time by Imagine Dragons and everyone associates that song with The Perks of Being a Wallflower which I don’t mind because I love that movie. But it also gives my SO and I major goosebumps and makes us feel brave, like we can do anything (like marrying one another for the rest of our lives). We’re not getting married for quite some time so the song choice could change.. Either way, choose something that makes you feel the emotions you envision having in that moment. Good luck and congratulations 🙂
I LOVE A Thousand Years. It’s gorgeous, and I don’t associate it with Twilight at all. I know it was originally written for the movie and gained fame that way, but that can be said for many popular songs that came from movies. Iris is the song SO and I want for our first dance when we get married, and it was originally from the City of Angels movie.
I say chose what you feel would be most appropriate for YOU and you only!
@RiverBride13: Wow that song is beautiful! I don’t think it’s in my band’s repertiore though =/
@abales45: It’s soooo pretty! It makes me tear up just thinking about it.
@Bebealways: I know, I know! And I love that song you’re using!
@Miss_Lala: This is so true. Thank you for pointing that out. And, if I might add, how very perks of a wallflower of you to tell us to focus on what we like and not care what everyone else thinks. 😉 I love that movie & song btw.
What about Storybook Love from the Princess Bride? Fits your username. =D
I really like A Thousand Years though. I don’t even care that it’s from Twilight. If we do a first dance, it’s the top of my list (the walking down the aisle spot has already been taken by the Jurassic Park theme).
I walked down to the instrumental version of A Thousand Years by The Piano Guys, and it was perfect! It’s such an emotional and beautiful song. I don’t think anyone associated it with the movie because it was instrumental.
It’s your day. Do what you love or feel comfortable with. If you go with non-traditional, ppl may like that because they weren’t expecting it. I’ts ok to go outside the box once in a while. I’m walking down to “Mrs You and Me” by The Smoking Popes. Or “The Book Of Love” – [cover] by Airborn Toxic Event. I haven’t decided one which one yet.
@PrincessBride27: Our ceremony music is going to be on guitar, so I don’t know what it would be like in a band, but our musician recommended jack johnson better together (the one we are going with), Sade by your side (this is actually our first dance song), and Marry me by train.
