Upstate, NY isn’t in New England? Dang, my whole life I thought I grew up in New England lol

I’ve never heard of New England as the 13 colony states. NY, NJ, etc is the “Mid-Atlantic.”
As someone from MA… All I have to say is *face palm*
I once met someone who asked if CT was near Ohio. Sooo maybe that’s where some of the confusion stems from?? Haha
Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. That’s New England.
New York is absolutely NOT part of New England…and definitely not Ohio!
I’ve been a resident of both regions and have always thought that:
New England is MA, New Husband, VT, ME, CT, and RI.
The Mid-Atlantic region is PA, NY, DE, NJ, and (usually, but not always) MD.
I’m a New Yorker…we’re DEFINITELY not part of New England!!
New England absolutely just Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Anyone who says differently is wrong.
I’m a native New Englander.
I’ve always considered New England to be everything from your first poll option + NY.
Definitely not the original 13 colonies though!
You mean New England isn’t a state?
I kid 🙂 (Well maybe only half kid, as I am from the SW and all those little bitty states confuse me)
