Looking for some suggestions on a stone to put into my grandmother’s old ring. It originally had some sort of pink stone but was in very bad condition. The stone is large maybe around 9mm by 10mm (my super rough estimate so definitely could be way off!). I certainly couldn’t or at least wouldn’t want to pay for a diamond and I dont like this simulant look. I really know nothing about jewelry and stones and what might look nice and be affordable. I will take it to a jeweler but kind of want to get an idea of what I want beforehand. Thank you for any advice!

I’d put either a diamond slice or a rustic colored or salt n pepper rose cut diamond from Etsy, they are quite affordable on there loose. Like this https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/655343726/133-ct-oval-cut-brownish-red-natural

Your ring is so beautiful! Are there any colors or gems that you gravitate to? A birthstone or maybe a favorite color? That could help you narrow down the decision. I love either a peachy morganite or a light colored aquamarine stone with the yellow gold.
Depending on the frequency of wear and your line of work- youll want to pay attention to the hardness. Gems are rated 1-10, 10 being the hardest or most durable gem (a diamond). Morganiteand aquamarine are both a 7.5-8 on the scale. Hope this helps!

Perhaps an aquamarine? Maybe a warm colored diamond to save on cost?

Lab created ones are more affordable.

Something red? Maybe garnet or ruby if you have the funds.
