So I was visiting at my parents’ house today and was eating a couple of green olives when I dropped a piece on the ground for their cat Mr. Kitty (who is also somewhat mine because they got him while I was still living there part of the year). I’ve known that he loves olives, but apparently my dad did not and was floored when Mr. Kitty started rolling around on the ground and gobbled the pieces up. He thought it was so weird. (And yes, I know that the salt is not particularly good for him but there is nothing especially harmful in olives and he gets just a few small pieces only once in a great while.)
Their other cat, Little Doug, is obsessed with water bottle caps. If you drop one on the table so it is audible, he will come running from any corner of the house to come play. One of our cats, Mew, is obsessed with licking particular kinds of plastic, like potato chip bags.

This made me laugh as I thought of fond memories of my kitty who used to adore cheesecake. Like owner like furbaby 🙂
We also had a cat who was obsessed with getting up on the windowsill and licking the plastic blinds. He would be so intent on doing it he would get all startled when someone walked into the room. Too funny!

My childhood cat is unusual in many ways (my dad swears that he thinks he’s a dog), but he doesn’t have any food quirks. The most unusual things he’s begged for include pizza and Flavor-Blasted Goldfish crackers (he’d only lick the powder off, though). Otherwise, he likes typical “people food” that cats are known to enjoy, such as the dairy products he’s not supposed to have. I always keep my milk away from him, but with solid dairy products, I usually end up giving in and tearing off a piece of cheese or letting him lick a drop of ice cream off my finger.
On the other hand, one of my mom’s cats loves corn and pasta sauce, of all things. We also used to have a Pomeranian that would willingly eat clementine segments…dogs aren’s supposed to like citrus!

My puggle loves ice (he’s obsessed with it!) and my bichon yorkie loves veggies. She could eat them all day!

I have 2 cats I left at my moms, Sammy, the siamese, loves yogurt and tomatoes. She also will not drink her water unless there is ice in it. Deuce didn’t have any weird food things but he LOVES to play fetch with rolled up paper balls.
My new kitties, Pierre and Porter, have a weird straw obsession. If you leave a drink unattended for just a couple seconds they will steal your straw. When I recently moved, I about died laughing at how many straws were under the couches when we moved them. There was at least 50!

They really enjoy cotton balls and tissues. My Lhasa also enjoys biting little holes in bed sheets- its like a comfort thing for her.

Leaning on people. He dosn’t care if he knows you or not. He will just stand there and lean agaisnt your leg.

Our dog is a chocolate lover. She will sit at your feet hoping for a crumb. I don’t get it, something that can kill her she loves, but she’s a lab so she’d have to eat a ton to make a difference.
The cat is a whole other story. He refuses to drink water out of the bowl, instead he gets in the tub, we have a dripping faucet, and he licks the water out of the tub. For that reason we are a little worried about fixing the dripping. The cat also likes my Burt Bee’s lip balm. When I’m wearing it he will crawl up on me and try to lick my lips. Creepy because normally he’s only nice to Darling Husband.

My dog likes ice too. She also likes to eat underwear. Opens the nightstand to get to them.

@BHB0526: Our cat does that too… Balled up pieces of paper. The only thing is he will chase them and then hide them. Only to bring them back a few days later and drop them at your feet. So it’s not fetch it’s more like chase and hide lol

Pine cones. Both dogs love them and hoard them.
Clementines. One dog will steal them from you if you’re eating them near her. They think clementines are balls, but they’ll also beg for the wedges. If the get a wedge they lick it but won’t eat it.
Squirt guns. One dog loves water guns and tries to get squirt in her mouth. She loves catching the stream.

My Border Collie dog LOVES buckets! lol like the thin black ones that plants and trees come in. He is OBSESED! My parents live on a hill above a creek and he used to beg for us to kick the bucket. He would catch it perfectly on his head/face and then roll down the hill with it on his head. He is notorious for running around my parents neighborhood with a bucket.
He is too funny, he can care les about any store bought toy. lol

@BHB0526: omg, my cat loved straws too. it was so weird. if you were drinking with a straw, he would just up on the couch and reach over and take it from you. i have no idea where that came from. when i moved i found soooo many under the couch and under the little floor mat in the basement.
my cat also loved canteloupe. he would go crazy for it and could smell it as soon as i bought one. he would sit by the fridge waiting for you to open it. i made sure that before i put him down 🙁 a couple of years ago, i gave him some canteloupe for his last treat. he was so old (18) and so ill but still couldn’t resist the canteloupe.

@kestane: My cat licks blinds too…I’m glad mine isn’t the only weirdo! She also likes to lick the couch. She will lick it for hours on end. I’m almost tempted to lick it myself once to see what she tastes! (OK…not really…but I do wonder what tastes so good on there.)
My cats love the little plastic thing that comes off of a milk carton. They’ll dig them out of the garbage and play with them. And my male cat stands up on my toilet and reaches on the shelf and steals my hair ties. I ended up just giving him one so he’d leave the rest of them alone.
I took the last bit of chapstick in a tube one day and put it around my dogs mouth to see what he would do, and apparentely I created a soft lipped little monster, because now when I pull my chapstick out, he wags his tail and stands at my feet. One time I caught him chewing on it after he dug it out of my purse.

Our kitten likes water. It’s the weirdest thing. She doesn’t want to be submersed in it, but she likes to bat at water from a faucet, and when you’re taking a bath, she just stands on the edge of the tub and stares. When the tub is filling up or draining, though, and there’s only about half an inch of of water left, she’ll jump in and walk around.
She’s not the only one, either. She’s the last kitten left from the litter of four we raised last spring. We still have the momma cat, and she likes to bat at water, too. We spoke with the guy who took the one male from the litter, and he reported that his cat likes to jump in the shower with him! We’re told the other two female cats constantly have to jump in their water bowls and get under faucets, too. We raised some weird kittens.
