@BHB0526:  my cat LOVES straws! no drink is safe!

@GreenEyedMoon:  We would always come home to an upside-down/empty water bowl, and we never understood why the kitten would do that. one day, i was in the room with her and she started spinning the water around with her paw, creating a sort of whirlpool and then she would just sit back and stare at it. when she got sick of that, she would stand on the bowl–all four paws off the ground. little weirdo.

My dog loves everything and everyone. but he HATES carrots.

One of our dogs LOVES broccoli. We don’t give her much since too much is bad for dogs, but when she does get some she gets so excited and goes all rocket-dog around the house, zooming from room to room.

My dogs love to shred paper towels and kleenex.  I have no idea why.

One of my cats LOVES raw spaghetti. Playing with it, chewing on it. She also loves cotton balls and q-tips and will dig them out of the trash. She loves yogurt and string cheese, too, and will absolutely go NUTS if she hears the lid/package opening. We even try to sneak it past her and she just KNOWS lol.

The other cat loves new shoes. He used to lay on our shoes all the time, but now it’s just new shoes that we bring home. He sniffed, rolled, and laid on my new Sperrys for over an hour the day I brought them home lmao.

@HisIrishPrincess:  Our big kitty (shoe lover) refuses to drink out of a bowl, too. We got him at age 3 and he came into the house like that, no idea where he got it from. He was in a shelter for two years and then lived outside before that. He got our little kitty in on it, too. Now they just drop things in the water bowl if we set one out so it gets all nasty. He also likes to knock the tank off of our humidifier (only when it’s empty/nearly empty) and drink out of the nasty reservoir.

Our dogs (maltese/shih-tzu mixes) LOVE veggies of all kinds. I make salads a lot, and they know when I get out the cutting board that they’re getting treats. Mostly it’s cucumbers and red/yellow sweet peppers, sometimes broccoli or green beans. Not big fans of lettuce, though.

@GreenEyedMoon:  One of my cats has a water/plumbing fascination as well.  I’ve seen him get his entire legs wet intentionally.  And ice cubes.  He bats them around like a soccer ball.  If we put ice in his water bowl, he fishes it out and then goes to town.

He also LOVES shoes.  Sticks his head in them, hangs out with his front two paws inside them (like he’s trying to wear them).  One of his favorite spots to sit is around a small pile of shoes I keep in one corner.  He just sits there like they’re keeping him company.

My other kitty goes nuts over Q-tips.  We have to be careful to wrap them up in toilet paper when we toss them to keep her from finding it.  If she realizes we’re putting them in the trash she will knock over the wastebasket multiple times a day for about a month hoping she’ll find more!

I know most cats like to tunnel under sheets, but this girl does particularly.  She’s always trying to dive under them.  She spends whole nights under our covers, sometimes.

@Crindy:  My parents’ golden retriever loves carrots 🙂  Cutest thing I’ve ever seen.  My mom just holds them out to him and he chomps away.

I’m sure every other rabbit owner can relate so it’s not weird to us, but it’s definitely a shocker at first.. rabbits LOVE to chew on and eat cardboard boxes, rubber stuff, and plastic stuff.  I don’t know if it tastes good or they are curious and just want to nibble nibble nibble, but we’ve found out the hard way that they will gobble that shit up!  Our house had to be bunny-proofed to cover all the wires and anything plastic or rubber.  He’s eaten the rubber numbers off of our remote control, he managed to bypass our bunny protection and eat through an ethercord, and he also managed to eat a chunk of bubble wrap once.

My rabbit loves bananas soooo much that she twitches and closes her eyes while she eats them. She’ll also twitch for dried apples somtimes too if she hasn’t had a treat for awhile.

@GreenEyedMoon:  It was hilarious catching Luna (the tortie) in that gift box. She was being a pest all night and I came ’round the corner yelling ‘cus I heard rustling and knew she was into something. She is just sitting right in the box, looks up at me like “What? I fits, I sits!”

Silly girl. I had to laugh and grab my camera 😛

@elysion:  There is sugar in a lot of plastic polymers so they taste sweet when rabbits chew on them which is why they eat so many cords. I have 18 patches on the cord that connects my bass to its amp.

We’ve also found that Chloe (my bunny) prefers to eat red wrapping paper over the other colors. When I was 16 we had an exchange student from Spain and Chloe HATED her (the girl shrieked whenever the rabbit got near her). In revenge she ate all of the plaster off of the corners of the dining room. She hasn’t eaten the walls since the exchange student left.
