Never heard of that before but I have that too apparently. So does my fiancé- its something we bond over both being self conscious about, lol. I like bikinis with thick ties. Thin straps dig in and make it look worse, and I like the ties because I can adjust it to the perfect tightness.

So that’s what that’s called! I find i can avoid looking like i havea muffin top with string bikinis…

Even when I was really underweight I felt I had a bit of a muffin top… and now I know why! Make me feel less self conscious for sure!

Honestly I feel like by reading this thread and all the different opinions you should learn two things: it’s nothing to be self conscious about, and you have to find the bikini that you feel comfortable in.

I’d definitely say a high waisted bikini would be your best option.. And they’re so in fashion right now!

Depending on the ‘hip dip’ sometimes where the suit hits you it makes it look like it’s too small and therefore squishing you.

I don’t think there’s a one size fits all solution, it’s just what feels best and looks best to you.  Try on a bunch of bottoms and pick the one you like best.

MissCountryGirl727:  Yup that is me…it means if it cuts you off it gives you muffin top haha.

It’s not really a problem with me but I am so tall that even the L bottoms seem to be too tight on me.  I need like an XL bottom and M top   I actually like the bottoms with thick ties just because I can adjust them enough so that they don’t cut into my hip fat.  I would like the standard bottoms (no ties) except I can rarely find one that doesn’t cut into me.  I think I just need a new swimsuit as most of mine were from VS and I think their bottoms are terrible

I’d never heard of this today but come on, this is obviously caused by our low-rise pants!  Yes the physical tendency is there, but the pants are what’s squeezed your body in to make the ‘dip’.  It’s the same concept as the dent in the shoulders made by bra straps.  If you don’t want it, start wearing the high rise pants of the 70s and 80s (and watch yourself develop a stomach pooch when your waist is squished in).  In the meantime, since we’ve all got it, I am shocked that anyone cares at all!  Wear whatever bikini you want and no one on this entire earth will notice.
