My parents have a Hyundai Tucson. I drive it pretty frequently and I love it. I do feel really safe, it handles well. The only change I would make is getting 4wd instead of 2wd.

Well, mine is technically a crossover suv, but I absolutely love it. It’s a Chevy Equinox, seats 5. It drives just like a car and I feel pretty safe in in. I was rear ended a few months ago in it and it only left a small dent in my bumper.

I drive a Range Rover Sport I feel safe driving it, but I would prefer the Volvo SUV has a good safety record.

SO’s mom has a Toyota Highlander and I drove it quite a bit before I bought my car- it’s very comfortable and I felt very safe.  She was rear-ended by a person going pretty fast and it left like.. a scratch on the bumper.  I’m not an SUV person and I think all SUVs feel kind of tall and tippy, but I do love the visibility of being up high.  My dad also had a Subaru Forester for a couple of years and we all liked it (he traded it in because there was a manufacturer flaw with the paint).

I drive a Nissan Rogue. It’s a 5 passenger, and I guess technically it’s a crossover. I love my car and I feel safe in it!

@asianyoushi:  I love my mom’s Ford Explorer. She is only 5’1″ and she loves it. It fits 7 but I think the Honda CRV is nice too if you can manage with the 5. The explorer can fit a lot even with the extra row.
