@MrsAKSkier:  One of the prenatals I took was very similar… I can’t remember the name, but they were made with whole foods and you were supposed to take 4 a day? Again, I can’t remember exactly. I bought them from my health food store, and they are organic. They were more expensive than what I use now, and a bottle only lasted a month.  But they were great because I struggled for a long time with morning sickness and I didn’t get sick with these (since they’re whole food).

I switched to Nature’s Sunshine Prenatal and I’m still very satisified- much less expensive and bottles last a long time

Mine and DH’s multivitamins are both one a day. His glucosamine is 3 a day, I think? What about these prenatals? I’m going to start taking prenatals soon, and will probably go with those.

I get my prenatals on prescription. I take the ”Preg-Vites” It’s a morning pill, and a night time pill. I swear by these. Most multi’s make me incredibly sick …. INCREDIBLY sick, like nauseaus dizzy, major headache, no appetite, for about 8 hours after taking them, and these have been a lifesaver! I will contiune these through pregnancy, breast feeding, and the next babies.

@MrsAKSkier:  That’s more than I’ve encountered, but my prenatal is 3 pills per day, and it’s also food-based – so maybe it’s more common with those more natural types?  I just take a pill with each meal throughout the day (I’ve read it’s actually better for being able to process more of the nutrients, because it’s in smaller doses throughout the day).

ETA – I take the Rainbow Light Prenatal Petites.  They’re a little smaller than other prenatals I’ve encountered, so I think it helps with stomach upset.  I can deal with 3 pills per day for that 🙂

I started taking the generic prenatal vitamins at my local supermarket – one pill a day, all the ingredients I needed.  Once I was actually pregnant, I started to get really constipated, so I was looking for a pill without iron, and all I could find were gummies.  Those are 2 pills/serving, but I just take them at the same time in the morning.  I guess it wasn’t that important to me to take a food-based “natural” pill, and I figure the best prenatal vitamin is the one I’m actually going to take every day, so Target-brand gummy multivitamins it is!  They were pretty cheap too, and even though they’re not “prenatals” they still have 400mcg of folate, so I figure I’m fine.

@bananasareyellow:  This is the exact one I took while pregnant and postpartum. I only took one and they were awesome.

I take one-a-day prenatals with DHA. I tried a few different types and these are the only ones that didn’t make me super nauseous.

@MrsAKSkier:  That’s nuts!  If it makes you feel any better, I’m not on prenatals and we are TTC.  I just take a multivitamin.  My doc said I need to need to be on them until I’m actually preggers.  I know lots of people have different opinions, but I trust my doc!

@MrsAKSkier:  I take 2 vita-gummies per day. In early pregnancy I found pills too hard to swallow so the gummies were a god send! The only thing is they don’t contain iron.

@MrsAKSkier:  My prenatals are 3x/day plus I take 4 magnesium and 2 fish oils a day. I take the Thorne Basic Prenatals recommended by my naturopath doctor. I think they are like $23/bottle. After my BFP from weeks 6-10 I had the hardest time keeping my prenatals down. I ended skipping them a lot and just taking a folate supplment instead.

When I started my prenatals I was taking one pill a day.  When I asked for a refill my dr suggested I switch to a different one that ended up being 3 pills/day… I didn’t like that so I ended up asking to go back to the one pill a day prescription.  6 pills a day sounds excessive though.  I’d look into a different option if I were you
