SO this is my dress. Done and done! I absolutely love it! Yay
But what to do for a veil??? I tried on veils at the bridal shop (while I had the dress on), and I wasn’t crazy about any of them I guess because the veils were either too romantic and lacy (not the right tone for the dress), or too plain. Or the beading just didn’t fit with the dress (the dress has a bunch of rhinestones around the waist and neckline).
Does anyone have a suggestion on what to wear? I THINK I would rather have a short-ish veil as opposed ot a long one.

I don’t have a veil suggestion but your dress is awesome!

great dress — very unique (compared to what ive seen at every wedding ive been to!). I agree, a shorter veil would be better. How do you feel about fascinators? or even a veil that hits just below the shoulder could work.

Your dress is beautiful! I think choosing a veil would be tricky with that dress, because the neckline is so pretty, you’d want to leave that open. What about a birdcage or a hair flower instead of a more traditional veil?

i love it! who is the designer? do you have to have a veil? i am not doing one. i think a pretty hair piece would be lovely.

i second the birdcage idea… i am totally in love with them!

Love the dress. Honestly I just wouldn’t wear a veil. Look how gorgeous the model looks with just a headband. But if you are set on one then I think the birdcage or shoulder length idea is best.

I love the idea of a birdcage veil too!

I’m not loving the bridecage idea with that dress although it could work, I may be totally wrong. I say a large flower, they have a ton of artificial pretty ones on etsy. Personally I love how the model in the picture has her hair with the hair bands. Those bands sell all over these days.

The dress is so modern. I think it would look awesome with one of those great headbands by Jennifer Behr! http://www.jenniferbehr.com/

I agree it is so modern looking. Its GORGEOUS though!! I cannot picture a veil with this. A pretty headband or some other kind of headpiece . The birdcage veil could possibly work, but I am not that fond of those either. I’m curious to see what you end up picking. Keep us updated!

Thanks everyone for your great suggestions! Yay!!! I think i will either go with a crystal head piece/head band of some sort (sortof like the picture) , or maybe the flowers that a few of you suggested! The dress is modern, but also looks kindof Grecian to me, so… it’s tough.
I really wanted a regular veil, but I’m now slowly letting that idea go. The dress doesn’t call for it, so why push it!?
As for the birdcage veil… I love them on other people, but I can’t pull them off, and I always think of them as so vintage-y (which I love!) but … not necessarily something that I think would harmonize with the dress.
@yohagopelo – the designer is Sonia Cholette. I bought it off the rack at a small bridal shop in Brooklyn, NY. Was the first wedding dress I ever tried on, and I came back to it bc I loved it so much! It was so different, but I still think it looks bridal. Yahoo!
I’ll keep you all posted!

I think a fingertip veil would be lovely…
here is a website with advice for choosing a veil 😉

maybe just a tiara instead of a veil? I’m not wearing a veil because I’m getting married on the beach and well, windy days…enough said 😀
Oh, I looked up before I posted so I second that on a tiara/headband idea or flowers! 😀

Why don’t you dress it up like the Grecian then? Put a veil with headband on over it, it will keep it in the back and make it look very whimiscal but grecian goddess type of a deal.
Or pin the veil to the updo so draps over the bun like the girl in the picture with the headband. I think that could look very modern but goddess.
I think the key to those, are long and simple and keep it in the back.
Here are some similar ideas to get a visual:
You can’t see the veil b/c she is sitting on it, but it’s pinned underneath the updo
