Our reception ended around 9:30pm. The latest we had planned for was 10pm so that we could clean up before the end of our reserved time.

10:30pm sounds totally reasonable for an end time. I’m not sure it would be worth the extra cost to extend the time, and like you said, you’ll be tired! If the guests still have lots of energy, I’m sure they can find a way to keep the party going themselves.

After party at a local brewery. Ours will end at around 7. People will have the option of coming out with us in jeans or retiring to their inn rooms.

zugarplum:  If your guests want to continue the party they will find a bar. I don’t think you need to extend your reception or coordinate an after party if you’re not going to enjoy it.

We are having an afternoon wedding, so our reception ends at 6. We are running out for sunset pictures with our photographer then heading back to a house we are renting. We are planning to tell our closest people that they can stop by for board games and general merriment but honestly I’m reserving the right to nix that if I’m exhausted. In any case, it’s a very low-key plan which is what I would recommend if you feel you have to be present at whatever goes on past your current plan.

Ours is ending around 10-1030. All of our guests are staying at a hotel the night of the wedding so we will be going back to the hotel and hitting up their bar! The people who don’t want to join can just go up to their rooms 🙂

zugarplum:  Our reception will end at around 4am, maybe slightly later, so we won’t have an after party, we will probably leave at 3am.

We didn’t have a specific end time (really fantastic venue, great staff, great food, beautiful and let us do pretty much what we wanted) but I think it was about 12 by that point I was exhausted and wanted to get out of my dress RIGHT NOW lol so bed was very welcome

zugarplum:  My reception ends at 11:30. A lot of people want us to have an after party so we might let some people come back to our house but I plan to sleep cause we’re hosting a brunch for all the out of towners the next morning

We haven’t signed contracts on our venue yet, but we’re 99% sure we’re having out wedding at an inn. Reception is tented and amplified music has to be off by 10 PM (per town laws) but the inn has a “tavern” (bar) that will continue to serve with music inside until 2 AM for those who want to continue. I assume this is where guests will split up as some return to their rooms and others continue with festivities. After 2 AM guests will have to retire to their rooms but are allowed to continue drinking any alcohol of their own in private.

Fi and I will have a room on-site so we’ll probably pass out whenever, I’ll be really impressed with myself if I make it to 2 AM…

Ours ended a little before midnight, but everyone was shattered by then. Our weddings are an all day affair, with close family getting ready and getting the first sets of photos done around, or even before, midday. By the end of the night, everyone just wanted to sleep!

We left at 10:30 and I think all our guests were pretty much gone by 10:45 except for my parents who were collecting all the decor stuff.  It worked out well, we were both pretty shattered by then.  We didn’t do an afterparty but hosted brunch the next day.

Our reception ends at 8. We’ll go to our hotel room to change then out to the bar to keep the party going.

Our reception ends at 10:00, but we are going to shuttle ourselves and interested guests to the nearby downtown area (also where some guests will be staying) for an afterparty til the bars close!

We didn’t have an option to extend the reception because ours is semi-outdoors and there is a noise ordinance. But we like the idea of a big afterparty. Even if we don’t get back to our hotel room til well after 2… it’s gonna be a fun night!

Ours ended around 8:30 and it was perfect.  Family got together for an after party and we drove an hr to our hotel.  I wouldn’t have changed it.
