My wedding is October 27th. I had originally planned on starting the wedding at 5pm, but I now I am thinking 6 O’clock would be a better time. The sunset is at 6:10 that day, and I dont know if I am overthinking this but I think if the ceremony starts at 6pm then we will get some amazing pictures! But then what if it is too late and its dark? Or is that going to make it to dark for the pictures taken afterwards? We are going to do a first look, so that was we only have to shoot with family after the ceremony. Ugh. I know I am thinking way too hard about this, but I am about to have my invitations printed and I cant believe I havent put more thought in to the timing of the Ceremony! Help! 5 or 6? Or maybe 5:30?

I would have loved to do the ceremony closer to sunset since we’re on top of a mountain but it’s an hour drive from the ceremony to the reception and that just starts pushing things too late for us :/ We’re doing 5pm and our ceremony should be 20 minutes TOPS

We’re starting it at 5:00, because I actually think the light in the hour BEFORE sunset is the most beautiful. That’s when you get those long, golden sunbeams; right AT sunset it will already be somewhat dim. I think you may find it really is quite dark if you’re trying to take photos after sunset.

Mine is at 5:15 because sunset at that time of year is usually around 6:15 in Florida. Wanted to have enough time for our ceremony on the beach and then have time to take pictures on the beach at sunset.

Our ceremony is starting at 5:30 since that’s the earliest we could do it at our venue. At first, I was a little concerned it might be too dark, but now I realize this creates the opportunity for some sunset photos (weather permitting)! Of course, we’re on the East Coast, but I think the sunset is supposed to be around the same time (6:10-ish). We are also planning on taking photos prior to the ceremony to avoid holding up the reception.

Do 5 o’clock so you have the time after the ceremony for sunset pics. Even if you do the first look before the ceremony your photographer can a few more shots of you and your new hubby in the sunset light. Plus, you have wiggle room for just in case you’re running behind on time and start the ceremony late.

5pm is when ours will start. We have an awesome location that looks gorgeous at sunset. 🙂
