I am getting married October 15 which is 74 days away..but who is counting 🙂 Our reception is ending around 11…what time would you suggest starting the ceremony? We are having a quick ceremony..30 minutes or so. I just want to make sure there is enough time to have dinner, toasts, dances, and all the other fun stuff. So, what do you ladies think?!

are your ceremony and reception in different places? our reception has to end at 10, so we are starting our ceremony at 4 (also short, but a few minutes drive away)

We are starting our wedding at 7:30 and ending reception at 11. We are not serving dinner though.
It’s an outdoor wedding and we wanted to start just before sunset.

Our reception is starting at 6pm and ending at 11, which I think is pretty typical (the 5-hour reception) – you’d probably be good starting the ceremony at 5:30 or 6 if it’s short-ish.

Dinnertime is usually around 6:30 or 7:00. If your ceremony is at the same location as your reception, have the ceremony around 5:00 or 5:30 giving yourself time for pics afterwards, but before dinner. If the ceremony is at a different location add realistic travel time to the front end of 5:00 or 5:30.

They are at different locations, but just minutes from each other. I was thinking 5:30 and that seems to be what you guys are saying too. We are ordering our invitations tomorrow (late!) We will get them out before the 6 week mark though!

Ahh, I love your wedding date! I wanted it, but it is also my birthday and I didn’t want to get married on my birthday. We are getting married in July, so the sun sets later. I wanted a sunset wedding, but at that rate, we wouldn’t be able to start until nearly 9 PM! So, we’re starting at 7 or 7:30. Since you’re getting married in October, you can probably do a sunset wedding at 5.

Our church is about 25 mins from the reception. We are doing photos before the ceremony.
