We’re about to celebrate our one year anniversary and I’m not sure what to buy Darling Husband. The only ideas I have so far are a fancy watch or a nice suit. He likes watches, but I’ve bought him one before. I know he’s mentioned that he really wants a expensive new suit multiple times. What did you buy your DH? Or just any good ideas! He told me he has an idea of what to get me but that it’s more than we had discussed, he won’t tell me what it is other than it costs 1500, so I want to spend at least 500ish?

Oops this needs to be moved to gifts! Sorry!

Well if he wants a new suit why not do that? Or you could do a 1 year anniversary boidour shoot to remind him why he married you 😉 haha! Other ideas: nice wallet, tickets to a sporting event or a play he wants to see, a weekend getaway to somewhere he likes, a really nice bottle of scotch if he is a scotch drinker.

@hollyberry4: Ohh the tickets to a sporting event is a great idea! No sexy shoot for me, I’m 6.5 months pregnant haha maybe next year!

Apparently the modern first year anniversary gift is a clock. Our anniversary is coming up in 2 days, I’m giving him an engraved pocket watch.
But there’s no need to follow that, you can always buy him that nice suit that is ‘timeless’.

Yeah, I vote tickets to something awesome – game, concert, theater, whatever he would enjoy. And maybe a really nice steak dinner beforehand!

@MrsRichard: If he likes watches and has a few, what about a really a nice watch box? They usually run ~$150 depending on the kind you get.

@MrsRichard: for our first anniversary Darling Husband asked for some cologne which I think cost $115? I asked for a set of windchimes which were $130 I think… Then we took a road trip to the grand canyon since its fairly close (8 hour drive??) which probably cost $500 for gas/food/hotel… It was really nice to DO something together…
if he had wanted a suit or something more expensive I would have gotten it for him… I know it’s supposed to be the paper anniversary but I think you both should just get whatever you want 🙂
this year I would live to go to Vegas and binge drink on slushies but I am pretty sure it’s a terrible idea cuz I’ll be 35weeks and I’m sure my alcohol tolerance has gone from a little to zilch lol!

@teaberrie: Love the pocket watch idea, I’m sure he’ll love that!
@JenGirl: Ya, I feel like he would be stoked if I got some awesome tickets to a sports event, but I’d have to ask him when so that I could make sure he could get time off work since we’d have to drive out of town!
@leisha606: Hmm I had never thought of a watch box, I’m going to look into that. Even if not for our anniversary gift, cause he just always has his watches lying around lol
@MySunshine: How was visiting the Grand Canyon? We were just talking about what to do this morning and he mentioned either driving to see the Grand Canyon or to drive up and rent a little cabin in the mountains which would only be a 45 min drive from us. We live in Vegas so if I wasn’t gonna be 7 months pregnant we would probably just hit the town! lol oh well.
Thanks for all the tips ladies and keep them coming. Our anniversary is on the 15th and his 30th birthday is in April so I’ll need as many gift ideas as possible lol

@MrsRichard: we’d never been to the Grand Canyon before even tho we’ve been in Utah for like 5 years :/ The drive was kinda boring visually, but great for just some “us time” to talk and catch up… Then when you’re at the park (south rim) you can drive and stop at like 30 different spots to check out the views… Very little walking if you don’t want (which would be nice for us preggers)… We had a blast and it was pretty cheap, like maybe $20 to get into the park… We stayed at a hotel just outside the canyon which we got on Priceline… It made heading back thru the next day really easy tho we mostly saw it all that first day…. If you haven’t been you should totally go… Bring post card stamps 🙂
