The big day is THIS weekend. And I have been meaning forever to look into some week-of things I could do for my face. And tonight while I was out exercising I realized, OH MY GOSH THIS IS THE WEEK OF! I NEED TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT MY SKIN!!! So does anyone have any tips for things to do for the face? I thought about buying some kind of facial mask…but really didn’t know what product to buy. I also considered getting a facial…but last time I could a facial during my bachelorette spa day, I ended up breaking out BIG TIME a few days later. Not sure if it was related to the facial or not…but I’m not sure if I’m willing to take that chance.
Can anyone share what they did/will be doing for their skin right before the big day??

I wouldn’t do a facial that you haven’t tried prior to this week. I really wouldn’t risk using anything you haven’t used before unless it is something that doesn’t make you break out. Im planning on doing a mask the day before and maybe another time that week.. just to keep my skin clear and everything. Make sure to wash your face and use moisturizer but i really wouldn’t start any new products at this point.

@Allyser: That’s probably really good advice. Knowing me and my skin, I’d break out or maybe get a rash or something from a new product. I really wanted my skin to “glow” on my wedding day…but I probably should have done something about it sooner and not the week of!

i agree dnt try anything new. use somthing that u have tried before n that causes no problems for ur face, drink plenty of water n get plenty of rest each night n you should be fine

As an excited bride, you will “glow” no matter what! You don’t need a skin treatment – it will come naturally 🙂

Drink an ungodly amount of water. Avoid alcohol, caffeine and soda.
For a quick DIY skin treatment I like Philosophy’s Microdelivery Peel. I usually get it as a freebee from Sephora.

I would definitely do a scrub and exfoliate, I do a vitamin C scrub every week. Your makeup will go on so much smoother on the big day, do it the day before!

I won’t worry about it too much. Make an effort to drink water and eat oily fish if you can at least once. Buy some concealer and enjoy your day!

Facials are great – but generally you should have one a week or so before a special event. Most facials tend to cause a few breakouts because they are cleansing and extracting any zits. Drinking water and sleeping enough are really good ideas. Also use a mild cleanser and a light mosturizer and you should be fine!! My guess is that if you just remembered today – then your skin shouldn’t be too much of a problem! Remember that you’ll also be wearing at least a little makeup, so you should be fine!

I do a few weird things for my skin, but I’ve found them to be effective.
I exfoliate every few days with table sugar. Yes, it sounds weird. Table sugar is just the right size to be gentle but really do a good job, it’s natural, has no preservatives, and dissolves in water.
I also use grapeseed oil as a face serum. You can buy it at Sally’s or at grocery stores. It’s oil made from the seeds of grapes post-wine– it’s loaded with antioxidants and has been known to clear up acne. You only need a few drops.
I’ve also used the Yes to Carrots mud mask, and it feels awesome. It really cleans out pores and leaves the face moisturized.
I agree that wearing minimal makeup and drinking lots of water will help. Also, try washing your pillow case and makeup brushes. And a really great peachy blush always looks gorgeous.

Beauty comes from the inside. Don’t eat: sugar, caffeine, flour or dairy for a few weeks before your wedding and you’d be surprised what a difference it makes in your skin.

Another tip not specifically face related – I idiotically undid several months worth of teeth whitening by continuing to do coffee and red wine – I know it sounds stupid, but if you are coffee adict, use a straw!
