- Wedding: October 2011
Hi there bees! I’m Maid/Matron of Honor for my friend who is having a Victorian wedding this coming December. I offered to help research some Victorian wedding traditions specific to the ceremony itself. What I’ve found so far are plenty of sites about decor, wardrobe, and what might happen before or after the ceremony, but nothing specifies a tradition that might happen during that would show a significant act of the couple. I think the closest I’ve found is that dropping the ring during the ceremony is considered to be good luck, having shaken away any evil spirits from it.
Would anyone please share an idea that is Victorian in origin that would happen during the ceremony? Something along the lines of the couple lighting a candle together, or a sand ceremony? Thank you for helping me to make my friend’s ceremony that much more authentic.
