So this probably isn’t the best place to post this question but I rely on my bees for advise. My FI’s brother and wife are prego for the second time. This time they are expecting twins. Now FI’s brother doesn’t believe in babyshowers. Its a superstitious thing for him. I know that this double addition will put a strain on the finances so I wanted to kind of give them a shower without giving them a shower.
Any ideas on what I can do for them?? Raise money, collect gift cards, anything??
Anyone have ideas?

Can you tell us more about why it is a superstitious thing for him?
There are many people who are not comfortable having a shower until after the baby is born. They believe it will somehoe jeopardize the pregnancy. Would he be ok with a shower that takes place after the twins are born?

@julies1949: It is exactly what you said, he believes it jeopardizes the pregnancy.
I thought about the shower after the twins were born but don’t they need the gifts prior to the babies being born?? (cribs, etc)

The only more expensive items they will need before the babies are born, are the car seats to get safely home from the hospital.
Newborns are so tiny that they can sleep in a drawer as the pioneer babies did or in a moses basket or bassinet.
Strollers, high chairs etc are not needed immediately.
Maybe you could organize something on the sly, by speaking to friends and family who would normally be giving gifts or attending a shower. You could draw up a list of needed items and have people decide what they would like to purchase or contribute to the purchase of.
Obviously you would only approach people that you know would want to participate. Speak to the brother and his wife. Tell them that you will respect their wishes and hold off on any shower till after the birth, but, in turn, you would like them to hold off on any unnecessary purchases until you have a chance to host a shower after the babies are born.
If people want to do something ahead of the birth, encourage them to drop off casseroles for the freezer.
